JCM DBV-200 SS Clicking
« on: June 28, 2018, 04:41:50 PM »
Looking for a little assistance on a JCM DBV-200.

When I turn the machine on I only get clicks from the BV. The clicks seem pretty cyclical and there is a series of red lights on the board and one goes out when it clicks.

What I know so far:

1. The BV is recieving 11.9 vdc from the power supply even through the clicks.
2. If I supply alternate 12.5 vdc to the BV it changes nothing and still clicks.
3. If I seperate the BV from the transport the light comes on steady, the reading red lasers light up and there is no clicking noise.
4. If I apply 12vdc to the motor connector in the transport, the motor runs, all the gears turn and it sounds healthy.

So I am thinking either I have a FET problem on the PCB or there is a sensor problem somewhere.

Anyone have an idea what I should check next?

Thanks

Have you verified that all the dipswitches on the bottom of the DBV-200 are set properly?

The 10 bank is= 1-9 are off, 10 is on and the 6 bank is=  1-6 are off.  Not sure if that is right or not. I know the 1-6 is as that allows the denominator of allow currency.

The ten bank not so much

From what I remember what you report is correct. For normal opration all switches off, except switch 10 is set on or off to select ID022 or ID023 operation.  Some IGT machines used ID022, others used ID023. Also, by setting the dipswitches to a certain setting you can put the DBV-200 head into Test mode and see if it will accept a bill. I think that is covered in one of the JCM documents. Does the clicking sound seem to come from the gear on the backside of the DBV-200 that meshes with the stacker/transport? There is a lever on the leftside of the bill validator assembly that has a red handle, that needs to be fully in the UP position.

The red lever is up.  The clicking noise is coming from a blue solenoid on top. The solenoid is just cycling back and forth causing the click noises.
If I hold the lever up it quits clicking but still will not initialize.

Going to call Chris and see if I can get a deal on a BV and transport together as I believe the problem is in one or the other.

I hear a faint moan noise if I remote the bill stacker, and another faint moan when I re-install it.

Another visit to Chris @ Ohio Gaming Slots (Thank you) and we have a working bill validator.  I replaced the dbv-200 with transport and away she went.

Not sure what was wrong with the old one. As an after action review or for someone searching the board and finding this thread with a similar problem; The transport was making a clicking noise only and it was a solenoid on top of the transport moving a lever back and forth. If I held the lever up the second red light would come on solid but yet the BV wouldn't initialize.
I took the BV out and followed the JCM instructions and setup a bench top test with different tests and found that whenever the transport was attached to the BV the clicking would return and testing would fail.
I tested the BV seperate from the transport and it would accept a bill through.
I couldn't find a reason the transport acted like it was locked up but if I applied 12 vdc to the motor it would run and carry a bill through it.
Another thing. The optics do not emit any light visible to the eye, not sure how they work.

Thanks to all who helped
