IGT GU4 (Australia/New Zealand) Assistance
« on: August 30, 2018, 09:21:08 PM »
Hi all.

I recently managed to get two GU4 and one GU4c machines and have been trying to get them to work.
It took a while for me to identify what they were to begin with, and this board has been extremely helpful.

One of them is configured for QCOM, so TD disabled and can't play it. In the following old post SS308 mentions a hardware fix to bypass this.

Does anyone know where I could find the docs for that.
I'm also curious as to what the 'stand alone chip' looks like; so I can tell if the two GU4's have that installed? Can they be converted back to QCOM enabled?
So many questions, but so interesting for a newcomer to this area as well.

One of the machines has broken buttons and the other has issues with the note taker; but I'll just work on them bit by bit.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hey man. If it comes up with play disabled td. You need to remove the qcom chip and replace with a stand alone chip. They look the same but the software on it is different. Once you put the chip in. Then you can reset the ram and setup the macine options and then play standalone. Where are you in NZ. I can help you with the chip.

Oh Hi...

Really slow response here, sorry, was away and then got sidetracked.

I actually managed to get another old but still working machine which had a standalone chip. So have then worked through how to swap parts and ram reset etc.

Means I only have 1 machine working at a time though..  Is it possible to buy the stand alone chips or do I need to mod my Qcom chip somehow?

Thanks

The chip will need to be erased then reprogrammed with standalone software. Are you in Wellington?
If you send the chip to me I can do it for you. Dont want any money though. Just send a prepaid courier bag so I can send back.

PM me if you are keen.
