DBV 200 only clicks, please help
« on: March 23, 2019, 10:33:53 AM »
I have a IGT GD65CF Slant top video poker machine. 1995ish model.
The bill acceptor only clicks exactly like the video in the links below posted by someone else.
It clicks as soon as powered on and clicks with or without the cash box in. I have removed, checked all the wires, gears, etc and all look fine. In the setting it reads "Bill Acceptor Disabled" (pic attached), could that be the problem with it clicking immediately after the machine is turned on? The battery was dead, I changed it this week. The clicking issue always existed, before and after I changed the battery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, AL

Video with clicking noise:

I am not exactly sure which machine you have by the IGT number you provided but based on the information you provided I am pretty sure it is a PE+
The machine has a DBV200 and the blue screen is classic PE+ (the older PE's didn't have a bill validator) and newer Game Kings would have a WBA.
I would need a picture of your MPU board to be absolutely sure...…

Based on a PE+ you need a SET chip to activate your DBV for use with the PE+
Regardless if the DBV is activated with your game software it should not be clicking the way it is.
It should make a grinding noise at power up, then you hear the belts move forward and back and then the bezel lights up if its activated and ready to take a bill or stays dark if its not activated.
If its not activated you should still be able to put a bill in but it will spit it back out.

The bill mechanism is comprised of 3 parts. Head, Transport, Cash Can.

If the machine has been recently transported the head may have come a bit loose.

The first thing I would do would be to remove the head and then reseat it. This is done by lifting the lever you see at the side of your picture.

Once the head goes through its initialization process we can look at getting you a SET chip to activate your validator

I had a DBV 200 with the same issue.  This was in a IGT S+, so I can't say if this will be a fix.  However, I found that the 82uf, 200V capacitor was bad in the power supply for the DBV.  I replaced it with a 82uf, 250v, Nichicon capacitor, and it fixed the problem.  Good Luck

The PE+ and S+ are the same architecture. The bill validators, power supplies etc are interchangeable.

Thanks Guys, good info....I will pull the power supply and check the caps, its 25 years old, the caps may have dried up.

Any idea what set chip # I will need? And, should I get a video clear chip too? I was looking at the chips below, although they are dated 1989 and the machine is 1995ish. I think it will work in my machine??
