When machine is turned on.....I get Dot Fail. If the machine is left on for about 20-25 minutes and then turned off, and on again........it works. However, lighting on the player buttons flickers slightly for maybe another 15-20 minutes, and then the the lights are fine. What can be done to correct this?

Sounds like the power supplies,  top and bottom are ready to fail.  You could try  recapping them or go with the PC power supply mod. The mod is pinned in the Williams section.

If Dot PS is ok, then  maybe the Dot controller board.

The DOT FAIL error and then it working after leaving it on for a while and then resetting is common with a failing upper power supply.  You can get it to work after a while of leaving it on and then resetting, but soon, it wont work at all.
