Bally 847 payout issue
« on: December 01, 2014, 11:28:39 PM »
Hello, I have an issue with two machines of mine, they both pay out on a single coin but if multiple coins are played the only payout is the first. Any more information you may need to further diagnose my machine??

Thank you,
Andrew

Check for a pin on the beau plug on the back of the hopper not making contact or a broken wire. I had that similar problem and it took me a good while to find it. I would start there.

I cleaned the connections and checked connections to wires. I notice that the multiplier clicks even when I don't win. The hopper doesn't reset.

The Continental can be difficult to diagnose, but I would start looking here. The unit in the head has a motor driven unit that resets the hopper after every payout depending on the amounts of coin s played. Meaning, if you play 6 coins and you get 1 cherry, it will payout 2 coins, reset and do 2 more, reset and continue this until all 6 sets of 2 coins are paid. This unit is a little pickey and the switch blades need to be cleaned and in the proper positions. I was lucky when I found mine and to this day, have not had to clean or adjust it.

Pay special attention to your payout counter Zero switch.  It is the one switch that would keep that all from happening.
I bet that's the one...make sure no broken wire or bad solder to it....
Clean it good, and look for it to slightly move when it closes.

Thanks Oldreno ... I always forget to go to the most logical area and jump right into the hard ones.  :fryingpan:  I hope and agree that that is the problem.

Dave,
The zero switch is the key area and a single point, so odds are that's the problem.
I hate it when you spend all that time chasing stuff, and, suspected that the problem was the easiest one that you overlooked because it was so obvious.
Know what I mean?
But it's all a good learning experience.

True ... It might have been the longest and hardest way to fix a problem, but with that process, I have learned more about the workings than I would have if I nailed it with out the hunt.
