Bally 5000+ payouts all over the map

Scored a Bally 5000 plus over the weekend for $20. Seller stated it was in storage for 15 years. Very clean machine. Had a lot of weird issues. Got the stuff from badbaud at klar to switch the battery out to a lithium coin battery. Most of the weird stuff went away. The payouts still don’t make sense. Underpays and overpays based on the reels. Sometimes it pays out amounts that aren’t even on the pay glass. BTW it is a white tiger machine. Also newbie question. Reel #1 gets an error code a lot. (45). I switched it with reel 2 and the fault followed the reel. Question is I have a 5500 that is basically a parts machine( was converted to a ticket machine) can I scavenge a reel from that for the 5000 plus?  Thanks for any ideas or
 Help.
