Fairy's Fortune BlueBird Will Not Boot Up.
« on: February 17, 2016, 11:17:56 PM »
I have several Slots in my Basement Family Room that haven't been turned on in over 6 months. I turned them on today and the only one that came up normally is my IGT S+

My Bluebird come up and appears to be booting normally but when it finishes booting it say "CALL ATTENDANT" on the screen and won't do anything.

I also have a Reel Touch "Denver Duck" that starts to boot but when the top screen gets to "Stand By Initializing" it stops and sits there for ever.

I suspect dead batteries from sitting so long but just wanted a second opinion.

Thanks much

On the bluebird have you tried to turn the attendant key?  Does it go into the attendant screen?  Are there any messages in the upper right hand corner?

When it comes up to "Call ATTENDANT" if I turn the Key a box come up that says

Non Volitle Ram Fault
Press Test Switch to Select Restart

Turn Attendant Key to Perform......

When I turn the Key the machine reboots and comes back to the same place.

Today I purchased the Batteries for my Bluebird and I replaced them

Now when I turn on the machine it looks like its starting to boot normally but it gets to a point

where it says   "Loading SPI Module Failed  EXIT"

"No More Tasks for init   Sleeping Forever"

I then took out the OS chip and put in the Clear Chip figuring that I had to clear the machine and start over.

Once again it gets part way into the boot up and it stops again saying the same thing.

Whats wrong???

Thanks much

What clear card are you using?  Someone ran into that error before and he attributed to not clearing the bb2 before switching to bb1 with a different SJUR.  I have not been able to duplicate the same issue.  But since you didn't go from a bb2 to bb1, this might be something else.  The SPI module is the eeprom linked with the jurisdictional chip.  If the jurisdictional chip fails for some reason you will get an SPI error.

The clear card I have is the same one I have always used. It has always worked before.

Its not an Original Card. Its a copy that came with the machine. so I don't know what version it is. I have at lease 20 different

games for the machine and have used this card many times.  Like I said I hadn't turned on the machines in at least 6 months

and the batteries died. I changed the batteries today and now this.  Other than that nothing has changed.

Remove the batteries and try a clear see what you get.  If the clear is successful put the batteries in the MPU before you power off.

I would try doing the clear with no batteries first to see if it works. The point behind putting the batteries back on while the unit is powered and after a clear is if the clear is successful, the NVRAM formatting done by the clear does not get erased.  It is my understanding that the battery circuit goes unused while the machine is powered and only voltage compliance is checked during boot to make sure the nvram will survive a power outage.  Putting the batteries into the mpu while the thing is powered should not pose a problem, although I have not independently verified it, I've only been told that.   I know it breaks the do not ever hotplug anything.  You could wait and see if there's an opposing point of view before you try the hot battery insert.  Is there no one close to you who could try clearing your mpu in their machine?

There is nobody around me that has any slots. I took the new batteries out and then I let the board sit for a while just to make sure that any caps that may have been charged by the batteries had

a chance to discharge. I then reinstalled the MPU into the machine and turned it on and the same thing happened again. Can my Clear Chip some how have gone bad????

Im not sure the clear chip has anything to do with the problem because the boot process stops at the same point wether the Clear Chip or the OS chip is in the machine.

Is it worth getting another to try it. I hate to think I have to purchase another MPU board just because the batteries died.

The other thing I was thinking of since it appears to hang up when its loading the Jurisdiction Chip can that have gone bad????

Perhaps I can get another one of those and try it.

At this point.  The SJUR replacement would be your cheapest option.   If it is somehow clear card is  bad, the game would fail before it even gets that far with a validation error.  You could also get a different clear card.  In most cases dealers sell their machines with an 1810 clear.  I would try a 1350 clear to see if you get different results.  One easy way to tell if you have an 1810 clear is that it will say configuring for CPUNXT1 platform during the boot process.  The earlier ones dont' have that message and the newer one doesn't work on CPUNXT1.

At this point I have nothing else to try. Do you have a chip I can buy or perhaps someone else has one.  Also is it worth getting another Clear chip just in case.

If anyone can help please PM me.

Thanks much

I was playing around with the machine tonite and I booted it up with an OS Chip and a Game chip and it seems to start out normal.

It gets to the White Screen where it say WMS  and started loading Compact Flash. When it gets to 100% it says "OK Booting the Kernel"

Then it says  "ACPI: Unable to Locate RSDP"

Then more lines scroll by then it says  "HDC:drive not ready for command"

Then a few more lines then it says "Loading SPI Module Failed  Exit!"
Then it says exit called: Status 3"
Then it says  "bash-2.05b#"

What does all this mean???

If I take out the OS chip and put in a clear chip the boot process is almost the same but it ends with it saying

"No more Tasks for init  Sleeping Forever"

Please someone help.

Thanks much

Thanks for the info. If you read this thread from the beginning it all started with a couple dead batteries in the mpu.  All I did was replace the 2 batteries. Before I changed the batteries the machine
booted up and would say 'Call Attendant". If I turned the Attendant key it would say non volatile ramp error. Now the machine won't boot up and I can't even clear it. With the clear chip in the machine
it won't even boot up to the clear screen.
