IGT AVP 2.0 to 3.0 conversioin questions
« on: October 21, 2017, 02:28:31 PM »
Hello, I have an AVP 2.0 Brainbox machine I purchased from an auction and the seller pulled all of the license keys before they sold it.  It has 3 games loaded on it but they obviously don't function since there is no license.  I've been having trouble figuring out what games work with my 2.0 brainbox so I'm considering upgrading to a 3.0 brainbox.  From what I gather I will need the 3.0 brain box, a compatible backplane, and some cables to connect them?

Is there anything else required for the conversion?  What backplanes are compatible with the 3.0 brainbox?  What cabling is required for the conversion?  I see what looks like a 50 pin ribbon cable, is the RS232 required as well?  Any other tips and tricks for this conversion?

Once this is done I plan on buying some games and licenses, I hear I need an E key to load and remove games, is there anything else I might need?

Thanks!

I believe I have a 2.0, there is a DVD drive and a HDD inside of the brainbox that came with the machine.  I bought a 3.0 brainbox and a compatible back plane.  It looks like I need a special ribbon cable for the two to talk?  Not sure what else is required to do the conversion.

Oh ok, I know what you are talking about. Not sure without looking at it. I skipped right over that one to 3.0 but do know about 2.5 as well. 2.0 though is another story.

It sounds like you have yourself a barrel of monkeys there.  First off You will need a E-key 7 and a diagnostic to do any thing.  Pictures help, As some here Don't want to help but then again not many know how to un-F**K these and make them work. Sounds like you are working with a old one- Complicates things, wiring etc.
