I have some questions about my IGT S machine
« on: January 28, 2019, 01:55:54 PM »
Hello guys  :waving_flag:
I want to introduce myself first: My name is Rolf, and I am a Collector of coin operated Games and other Stuff located in Germany. I'm collecting Pinballs and Slot machines since 8 Years. There are 3 main developers and manufacturers of Slot machines in Germany. NSM Löwen, which is mainly known for their Luxury Games and Jukeboxes, ADP and Bally Wulff (Bally merged together with the german manufacturer Wulff). I'm pretty good in reparing these slots and pinball machines but I have absolutely no experience in IGT Games.
Well, I bought one today. I wasn't sure what I just bought so I did some research on the Internet and I guess it is a IGT System S plus. (not sure about that)
Here is a picture:

So, it doesn't work. Well, how should it, there are definetly some parts missing.I would thank you if you can name the missing parts, for sure the MPU is missing, and I didn't found a speaker or anything like that.
(I took out the hopper so you can see the slot for the MPU better)
I would be glad if you can confirm some of my informations and maybe tell me where I can get these parts or which parts are even missing (since I didn't found pictures of the inside)Is it even possible to repair this one since the Eproms are missing ?
Thanks a lot,Rolf

Yes early s+ I believe. Looks like it may only be missing the mpu board w/tray and hopper.

Definitely an early S+. I think sixcardmark is right, only missing the MPU and tray. Yeah the hopper is on the floor. It doesn't say what denomination it is but that can be figured out with the coin comparator number.

Does someone have a working MPU left over ? or where can I order one ?  :Scratch-Head:
I took a detailed pic of the Coin Comparator:One number is bleached out.

Your speaker wire is running down by the door hinge to the speaker facing flat down behind the door panel.

A 10MHz MPU board is what you'll need with a blue potentiometer dial to adjust the sound volume.

The coin comparitor works by sliding back the copper sensor towards the right and stuffing in a quarter into the slot.
You'll need to clip the comparitor back into the holder on the door panel under the display panel.
There will be 4 plastic clips that attaches the coin comparitor.
Then attach the wiring harness to the coin comparitor that runs from the door harness.

You will need to buy an S+ MPU board at a minimum, then we can troubleshoot to get the machine running.  It won't run or make any sounds without an MPU board.

Also, one of the wire connectors is not plugged into the motherboard (the fixed circuit board on the floor of the machine, that the removable MPU board plugs into).  That is circled in green.

Finally, is there damage to the motherboard where I've circled in red?  It's tough to tell with your picture.

Thanks a lot.Very interesting coin mechanism, haven't seen this before.
There is some corrosion on the Motherboard, but only on the surface. I'm going to disassemble it and clean it.

So I need a 10Mhz MPU Board with blue potentiometer. Thank you !I will check on Ebay.

Will this one work ? https://www.ebay.de/itm/IGT-S-Slot-Machine-CPU-MPU-Main-Board-Tested-w-case-transformer-75505704/132811864798?hash=item1eec343ade:g:2TEAAOSwlgNbGfEr:rk:12:pf:0

That MPU looks like it will work. I'll add a picture of the door with a red arrow where the speaker is in an early S+ machine. It's behind the metal panel facing to the bottom.

I am located in Norway and I am sure I have some spare S+ boards. Shiping will be cheaper and faster from Norway to Germany, than ordering from the states. I can provide software for you as well, this is available:

I want it to be average level, so I think SS7800 will be a Choice. To be honest, I don't understand a thing on this table but the Win Frequency is average. I will operate it as Freeplay anyway (put a cup of coins next to it so my guests can play on it)  Thanks for your offer. You can also write me a private message.  :thank_you:

If you're running it on freeplay for your guests to enjoy for fun, I would recommend one of the higher payback percentage chips.  The machines can be "boring" when played for free if they aren't awarding wins frequently.

That's true, but I have bad experience with high Payout rates on Pachislo machines. The Hopper needs a refill every 5 minutes, which annoys me a lot.

There are a few things that make a S series different than a paschilo.
1. Credits - the Pashilo allows you to put in a lot of "metals" but generally only pays from the hopper and does not pay back to credit. The S will pay wins to credit and you can have 9999 credits.
2. Hopper limits -  you can set a max hopper pay ie 200 coins. 400 or whatever. Anything to be paid above the hopper limit the machine will lock up and go into a hand pay. This is where the casino guy comes over gives you an oversized cheque, takes your picture. To clear the hand pay you use your reset key on the side of the machine.
3. Cashout button. Many people remove the wire from the cash out button stopping people from cashing out all together.

Hope this helps.....

You were actually right. The PCB had some corroded traces. I rewired them and made some new vias because they were completely gone.
I wonder what happened there, because the Battery is on the other end. Maybe some other liquid spilled over the entire unit.
Thanks again for your help all together.  :thank_you: :hail:
I will post some pictures when I got the machine running.
