Bally E2241-41 Help
« on: November 22, 2019, 04:29:10 AM »

Got this slot for free from a buddy who was tired of holding on to it and hoping to try and get it going again. I'm pretty familiar and comfortable with pinball repair and board work so I'm hoping I'm not in to deep, not familiar with slot machine operation theory at all unfortunately.

When I turn the game on the lights come on and the display cycles through some codes, finally landing on 7.1 (blank) .0.06.. If I let the game sit, the first number will quickly cycle through a 1 2 and 3 and finally back to 7. I'm assuming these are some sort of operator or error codes?

If I drop a quarter in, it just comes right out of the game and I can't credit it up manually with the switches in the door. I can't find a manual so really just looking for some guidance on where to start trouble shooting and what should be happening.

Is there a source for the manual and schematics on this game?

Thanks!

Seem to have cleared that error but now I am stuck at the 50 door open code and can't clear it. All door switches seem to be working when I test them with my meter.

does the 50 code remain even after you play a coin and pull handle?

I can't get the game to coin up. If I have the door closed the coin just passes through into the payout tray. If the door is open and I manually hold the door switches closed, hitting the coin switch doesn't add a credit.

when you manually press the coin switch trip wire - do you hear a slight clicking sound?

Thanks...what pins are you referring to? On the I/O board or the mpu...are these pins on a connector or a chip?

I'll try this out tonight. What is it doing?

Leave the chip, add a jumper wire from it's pin 13 to its pin 5 and cut R40 off the board.
The chip is U21 on the board.

The bell and the fan come on when I boot the machine. The code has cleared but it's now "500.0.00". Can't seem to move past this one either.

Pull out the two RAM chips and check that their legs are shiny, if not clean the legs with a ink eraser before reinstalling.
If really tarnished suspect bad RAM sockets.

I've got the game booting now to a 71 error code. It looks like some sort of indexing issue with reel 1 but I can't seem to clear it. In test 8 I can't get the game to play either. Not sure where to go on this one. Appreciate the help so far I feel like there has been some progress.

Finally getting back to this. It will read the reels in test 5 but I'm not quite sure what the codes mean to be honest. I switched the reel reader on reels 1 and 2 and I still get a 71 error so I'm assuming that rules out the reader. Not sure where else to go here...

71 is the SDS code for door open, you said you had a 50, so i assume you are jumpered out properly for non-SDS error codes...

Did you check if there is a coin in your coin checker (comparitor)?
