Alpha S9000 Tito - Voucher Printer Comm Error
« on: March 12, 2022, 10:39:48 AM »
Howdy all,

I have just did my first CLEAR for my Triple 7 Wild Quick Hits to improve the loading up process. I used to wait over 30 minutes and sometimes have to reset just to get it to load. I have followed the exact same process on Youtube to clear it up. (Thanks to RB for guidance). However now I am getting a Voucher Printer Comm Error now. The TITO is a GEN2 Futurelogic. There is no light on the printer now. I looked through the forum but did not see if anyone had a similar problem.

Couple of questions:
1. Notice the picture #1 does not reflect the green light is on. There is only one long black plug on the left of it to the video card. There is an additional open plug on the left (near the label). Does something need to plug to it?
2. I read that printer not completely set could cause this. I took a picture #2. Is this my problem? I tried to push it in further but it won't budge.
3. When I initially set it up, I selected FutureLogic and heard it do something but the light did not turn on. Image #3.
4. Also, when I followed the YouTube video to set it up the protocol, it showed "Dual Host Setup" but my screen had "Device Owner Setup". Image #4.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Anyone have a working reasonable priced TITO?

"The TITO is a GEN2 Futurelogic."

A printer and a tito board are two different things.  Gen2 is a printer, not a tito. Do you have a tito board?

Can you show us a photo of what options you get when you hit the black Config button onscreen to the right of printer in the 3rd photo?

I highlighted it below....click on photo to enlarge if needed...>>>

The paper is not even loaded into the printer.   Did the machine print and accept tickets before the clear?  The printer has a harness with two plugs on it.  The big one is connected to the backplane through another harness, the small connector is not used.

Thanks to everyone's feedback. Here is the screenshot of the printer setup.

Yes, it was working before the CLEAR. Although after CLEAR, I added paper and it would not allow me to load it.

So am I confusing a printer with TITO?

Thanks

If the printer is not sucking the paper in when you put it in the slot, then it probably means the printer is not getting power or the printer is bad. I would check the harness on the printer to make sure it is connected on both the printer and the backplane.

To clarify printer vs TITO, I like to think of it this way.  TITO (Ticket In/Ticket Out) is a system that records the cash out transaction to a database and assigns the transaction a particular ID (which is represented by the barcode).  When the ticket is inserted into a machine, the validator reads the barcode and passes the number it reads off the barcode to the system that has the database with the recorded transactions, if it finds a match, it validates the tickets and authorizes the machine to issue the credits based on the transaction record.  A printer is just a device that prints the paper with the barcode on it, it has no other function in the TITO system beyond printing the ticket as instructed by the slot software.  When using the readily available TITO systems (usually a small arduino board), the actual transaction id is not recorded anywhere, the printed ticket number is the actual amount of credits that the machine cashes out.  If you look at your printed ticket that was printed using a home use TITO system, you will note that the number under the barcode corresponds with number of cents that cashed out.  If you look at a real casino ticket this number will have no relationship with the amount of the ticket.  That is why in home TITO machines, the tickets can be used over and over and across machines that do not have networked TITO systems.  Some people actually have SAS systems running in the home machines that work like the casino system where each cash out ticket is assigned a unique transaction ID that is recorded to a database on the computer running the TITO system.  This type of system requires the machines SAS systems to be networked so the cashout ticket can be accepted by another machine.

Thanks RickHunter for clarifying the printer vs TITO. I don't think I have a TITO (or board). The printer did have power before I did the CLEAR. I plan to do another CLEAR but how can I bypass the Voucher Printer COM error so I can play? My screen just says "Call Attendant".

I have looked in the forum about different TITOs and it seems too technical for my newbie experience to install.

Thanks RickHunter. I have disabled the printer and back online. I sure would like to get a TITO setup so that I can leverage tickets and credits. Any recommendations who can help?

Having fun @home with penny slots.

If you contact Jim from Bettor TITO he will probably be your best bet as far as support from a vendor to setup your machine.  It is not all that complicated, but I can understand as it can seem overwhelming.
