An error code 31 is a hopper jam where the roller arm is in the up position to long.
You may need to lube the arm so that it moves freely and/or adjust the switch.

hey Mr Ellis I'm guessing your Bob Ellis is brother from stagecoach he said his brother lived up in Shasta I have changed every part I ajusted every part on that machine even if I run the hopper out of coins it gives me an error 31 the only other errors I can force it to give me are the reels will spin after indexing
Do I hav the wrong prom?maybe

and he I have some weird plugs hear that Bob wanted for a Parker slot machine he brought up for you to work on foreign if you guys still need those shoot me a message with his or your address I'll go to storage and dig them out and mail them to you

the only good thing is I got the test all the spare boards I got with this machine I have spare everything but what's wrong :hissyfit:

the machine is definitely a 1213 - 9
the only information I can find on that model says it is a three-line mine is a 5 line
I have a prom written on that says 1213 it does not work right in the machine the prom I am using that was in the machine when I got it is a 1280 model I will get the numbers off of the Proms for you I may have to get my reader read the prom an attempt to decompile it

this problem was on one of the two spare boards that came with the machine the board have the right model number on the bottom of it

the other three memory chips all have the same numbers not a hundred percent sure they're right but what research I have done all the early boards how about all the - 3 boards have those three chips

The M1, M2 and M3 chips are all pretty much the same from on E1000 to the next, the variable is
the game chip in M7

I can find nothing at all on the chip numbers in the photos but that may be because I did
find that the Bally E1213-8 thru -16 and -24 thru -24 are all Golden Nugget specials.

Where I would normally have the game chip number and the number of stops listed, they
are left blank in my data.

kiss keep it simple stupid really weird it only errors out every now and then turns out the coin out switch was wired to the normally open terminal it would still work most of the time but that would error out 31 every now and then after exhausting my ambition on this machine I looked at the book one more time and it dawned on me it was hooked up wrong changed it to where it belongs the machine seems fine I will bet by 12:24 in storage is the same problem I'm going to go look at it when I'm done showing my house :banghead:

Pardon me while I smile because no one expects a machine to be wired wrong but it does happen more than we think it does.

yes it's hard to imagine such a simple thing will cause something so frustrating really weird though that it would count out the right number of coins every time and only error out now and then I just don't get it I want to go pick up one of my other machines from storage and see if I can force it to do the same thing I am very happy for all the help thanks for coming in and then again I'm going to ship them parts offer your brother tomorrow
