E2000 strange issue
« on: February 11, 2016, 02:24:22 PM »
This machine started doing real weird stuff..... Was playing fine hundreds of games With no issues ..... Now when powered up, play a game it never completely ends the game and lights insert coin .... Coins all go through return .... Even in test 8 you only get 1 spin ..... Handle is released if you pull naturally you get an error .... Reset it and you get same cycle .... It was intermittent with rejecting coins but next one would register .... Now it's consistent after 1 game it's almost like it's not realizing they game ended

Have you inspected the mpu board carefully for battery leakage or other contaminants that might have recently developed?

Do any of the button lights flicker or any other indications that could mean the power supply is acting up? Does the machine have a complete self-test capability you can get thru?

Your kick and/or arm switches on the side of the reel mech may be out of alignment or one of them may be going bad.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Badbaud beat me to the kick and arm switches. I've had one come off the cam before..

I checked them too ....... It performs all self tests .....  After the game is played it's not completing ... Those switches may be dirty or gummy inside ...

For those who mentioned buttons ... It's a 2000 there are no buttons ... Games not completing so handle is not locking out .... If you pull it again it gives a error for handle being pulled with no coin

I'll look into the kick switches

Kick switches are fine ........ Here's what I noticed ...... If I unplug the right plug on the decoder board if you were looking into the machine insert coin light comes on ...... Reinsert the plug and it's good for a spin .... That whole decoder board was rebuilt with all 3 ics replaced ......... This wilder fine till I took it back to my friends house ..... We brought it in and let it warm up and it's been doing this since moved ...... At my house it was fine .....

Quick question. Have you checked the pin header connection on the power supply board. Those solder joint connections go thru so many heat cycles they crack, causing the machines to do strange things. It's one of the first things I look at when I get an E-Series in.. 8 out 10 machines have cracks. The only other thing is check your board connections after moving a machine.

I reflowed all the header pins ....... In test 8 or in real play ..... You may get 1 but never more than 1 after the initial spin ..... If you exit test it's ok for 1 game ..... If you cycle through test menu back to test 8 it's ok again for 1 game ...... Almost like it's got bad ram that can't think that far ahead

The power supply is located behind the hopper on the back wall near the transformer.

Here's something that may shed light on this ..... After the 4th reel stops the reader lights never go out after the game either ...... If I unplug the decoder pcb and back in insert coin lights up and I can continue play ..... Smelling like a decoder board to me .... Strange with all new ics but wouldn't you agree

every time I've had an error on an E Series machine it has been a power issue put your meter between the 5 volt power on the power supply and ground and wiggle wires watch your meter put your meter on the I believe 10 or 12-volt power terminals on the MPU board wiggle the terminals on the wire see what it does
if there's no error I can almost guarantee you it's a bad connection
