Still sounds like kick or arm switch to me. Go to your I/O board behind the reel mech and un-plug then plug in the top most long connector a couple of times. That connector connects those two switches to the input chips on the I/o board. You could have a bad contact at that point.

Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Kick switches I did verify in test 3... One NO other NC correct ?? It seems DBS more aggressive you are with the handle pull the better chance it completes game .... It's not finishing the spin .... After 4 reels stop reader lights staying on .... The plug your mentioning ... As soon as that's unplugged insert coin lights up and back to normal ... Top of IO right most plug

The one on the far left is switch inputs, the one on the far right is just triac outputs.

Does the Molex connector at the PS have a dark brown over heated spot on it? If so the connector at that point is oxidized and also has lost it's ability to keep a friction fit for a tight connection. You may want to try swapping a power supply.

brought this back home last night, changed ram, reflowed all pins again, removed all cons and cleaned again, cleaned and verified ribbon wasnt causing probs, changed kick switches,  at one point I was sure that was it.... after pissing around about an hour it starting working fine played it straight for 2 hours plus without one issue.... thought ahhhhhhhh finally ....... fire up today n same shit from 1st pull!!! im gonna leave it powered up while and see if the prob goes away when it warms up ..... touching, wiggling, reseating ect, nothing makes it complete the game except cycling the plug on the IO or the reel housing........ logically what chip determines end of game ??? Oh i also again changed all ICs on the decoder wondering if it wasnt decoding or sending the decoded info to the mpu, that also made no change...... next thing I may poke at is a cpu swap but im not optimistic on that

whatever floats your boat.  :CaptainHappy:

But 100 hours x $20/hr =$2000, you can buy any of many nice machines for that or less.
I guess sometimes the journey is worth the destination.

after reading all the usual answers (power supply - kick/arm switch etc - no one mention lube ) - the problem as far as I could glean from all the responses - the machine will not finish a cycle?  reels spin and stop?  Are you sure the reel readers are working correctly??  you did the 5 test?  if the reels don't read then the game won't finish.

reels are all reading and decoding fine, no tilt error decodes in test 5 fine. 2 readers have all new optics....seems like reels stop and its stuck not deciphering if its a winner or not to reset for next pull,,,,,,if it wasnt seeing 4 it would give a 44 error....

you won't get a tilt code in test 5 - if you have a bad reader - the game will not complete the cycle and sit there - if you have 50v readers the lights on the readers would stay lit.   You did try all the stops during the 5 test?

i dont get tilt codes in game play either. yes i did verify every symbol on every reel ...... i will again .....in either game play or test 5 it just hangs with lights on after a spin

Then try this.... on your I/O board you will find IC U15 in a socket. Remove that IC and plug it back in a couple of times.

The game is not seeing a end of cycle either because your kick or arm switches are bad OR the input connections on the I/O board (upper left J3) are making a bad contact OR the PAL chip at U15 is in a corroded socket.

When we get this kind of problem we do all 3 plus re-pin the input connector at J3 and that fixes the problem.

Worst case we remove or lube the rubber stopper inside the dash pot (white tube on right of reel mech) and that  solves the problem.

Worst worst case we have to replace U17 on the I/O board.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

the 5 test will not give you an error code - the 5 test reads each reel position. you have to manually cycle each reel thru the 22 to 25 stops.  You don't necessarily get an error code if a reader is malfuctioning.

J3 pins 1 and 2 are the two pins for the kick and arm switches. Unplug the connector on J3, remove pin 1, then pin 2, clean the pin with a pink eraser, spread the pin out then slide it back into the connector. You may need to spread the keeper out on the pin with a razor blade so it snaps firmly back into the connector.

Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
