Setting up S6000 with WBA bill validator
« on: January 15, 2021, 10:02:46 AM »
Just acquired a S6000 missing the bill validator and cash can.  It has a frame set up to accept a WBA transport, including the harness at the rear that the unit slides into.  I'm not sure what all I need to get this working.

I know I need a transport and BV head, WBA 12/13.

I need a cash can.

I understand I need a RS-232 interface card.  Does this mound on the side of the transport and di I need any special cable/wire to hook it up, or is it already part of the transport?

I have a bezel unit already on the door.  Is there another bill guide needed between the door and BV, or do they mate up tight without anything else?  Do I need a special BV head made for the Bally?

Thank you for any help and/or pictures.

You do not need a rs232 card for a Bally 6000. You will need a transport set for id03, head and cash can. There really is not a bezel but there is a plastic locator that goes on the front of head and locates with the bezel on door. You will also need to change ds2 5&6 for your bill accepter and do a clear.

Thank you for that information.  Can you (or anyone) please post a picture of the plastic locating piece that I need that locates the head to the bezel on the door?

Learned something new today myself.

I've got 2 S6000 machines with WBA Validators in them, neither have that little locator.

One takes bills just fine, the other is tricky, have to push the bezel one way or the other to line up the Validator's opening or it won't take the bill in. Maybe that's why.

Thanks for posting.

You sound convincing, but I'm still confused because I have received contradicting information from supporting vendors on this website.  i am going to buy a WBA-12/13 assembly and am told I need the RS232 to work on Bally S6000.  If I buy a WBA 12/13 with transport set for ID03, does that mean it already has the RS232 in it?  Or can I get ID03 with or without RS232?  Thanks if you can clarify this mess for me.

Hello,

RS-232 is the communication protocol that is included in the bill validator.

For IGT this protocol is called NETPLEX.

Whether for Bally or IGT you will not need an additional card, because the protocol is included IN the bill validator. But you have to buy an RS-232 version for the Bally S6000.

Bally - 742 TicTacToe / 809 Multiplier / 873 5-line / Alpha S9000 / S6000 Dragon Wheel

So when I see ID003 or ID023 on the BV, is that sort of the specification for the RS232 protocol in the unit?  Or do I just look for one that someone says is for Bally?

If you get a WBA 12 or 13  with ID003 you will be all set.
