General reel tilt on S2000
« on: January 14, 2017, 09:15:28 AM »
My brother-in-law has (2) S2000 slots which see very little use.  Recently, we powered up the machines & got the "Call Attendant", low battery message on both machines.  I pulled the boards & checked battery voltages, one was completely dead & the other showed .6 volts.
I replaced the coin batteries using the removable type holders.  While I had the boards out, I removed the green batteries on both boards.  One of the batteries was just beginning to show signs of corrosion but no damage to board. Proceeded to re-install the board on the 1st machine and, after clearing of number of error messages, the machine came up ready to play.  Inserted a bill & got 20 credits.  Pressed the credits button, then spin, & all seemed well.  On the next play the machine tilted out displaying "General Reel Tilt".  Reset the machine, tried again & had the same result.  Can't get the machine to stop tilting out.  Tried disconnecting & re-connecting the reel bundle harness a number of times with no change.  Tried re-seating the main board too, no change.  So, getting frustrated, I decided to try the other machine, hoping for a better result.  SAME situation on that machine!  Am I not doing something correctly? What do I try next?

Are your door optics properly lined up?
Make sure the door latch is completely down.

You may also try and see if lifting the door handle by 1/8 of an inch changes the fault issues.

I considered the door optics briefly, but didn't follow up on it.  I'll check into that the next time I'm at my brother-in-law's house.  Now that you mention it, I seem to remember some issue with the door optics when he 1st bought those machines.  Thanks for the tip.

:I_agree_1: I agree with Rich. Every gen reel tilt I've had came back to the optics or damaged tracings. Since your tracings are good, I'll bet that's the culprit.
My job keeps interfering with my hobbies.
