809 payout step up coil not activating
« on: March 25, 2016, 08:01:49 PM »
Okay, got into the 809 today. It's a fruit, bells and bars single line x5 machine. Problem is that the hopper keeps running on payout. Quickly deduced the payout step unit wasn't stepping like it should. Tested the coil, its ok. Traces the red/green wire from the coil all the way back to the odds unit, checked out OK. Checked common orange just to the beau plug, it's good. Also notice the jackpot light is on. I'm suspecting an open in the related circuit or jackpot relay might be part of the problem.
Looking for directions to narrow down the search. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

okay Dave you already have the schematic well I have drawn out the Step Up solenoid for the hopper comes from real machine C1 goes over drops down to the payout relay which is pretty common goes to the hopper switch as you can see it should go through the jackpot lockup relay series for 150.2 hundred coins and 100 coins down through the odds disc on a single coin through the X1 unit 2x1 there is no x 1 unit down to the payout unit Step Up solenoid pretty simple circuit only a few switches that check I would look at the jackpot lockup relays being that the jackpot light is on your problem is probably in the jackpot lockup relays of which there again they get their power from the of disc 2

Thanks Jon,

I was looking at the schematic you sent me last night. Going to take a closer look at the jackpot relays.
Also meter out the circuit for opens. Was looking for a jackpot light circuit on the schematic, but I guess this is an add on feature, not sure. My other option is tracing the light back through the machine, should lead me to the switch in the wrong position. Probably do everything just to get a better understanding of the 809.

Thanks Again

Might want to check the 100 tooth gear on the back side of the hopper board. Also check the tension spring and activation linkage. If these dont move freely, the disk wont advance and it will continue as it has not paid out the coins.

Okay got it fixed. Started tracing the wires back from the odds step up unit. Didn't get far and found contacts on the jackpot relay closed but not making continuity.
Adjusted the stationary blade down as to make positive contact. Works fine and pays correct.

As for the jackpot light, someone wired it ON for atmosphere I suppose.
Only a few minor things now, 6 volt lights flicker off and on and the exterior needs cleaning.
The reel glass is kinda beat up.

Now on to the other 809, as I remember it kept running on cherries only. Will post next week or so.

Thanks for the help.

Jon included photos of the beau plug extension cable. Thanks for the plug and socket.
It worked on the 1090 hopper and the 809 odds unit. Need to get a 30 pin set, will talk later.
