Death by suicide is always a heart breaking tragic event. For some it seems to be a lifelong struggle and others it is triggered by overwhelming problems at the moment. Either way if someone is determined they will find a way.

So....
Is it just me or does this not make much sense at all? For 76 million dollars! 

First of all, suicdal folks will find a way to kill themselves. Just step out in front of a vehicle crossing the bridge comes to mind.
What's going to prevent "net jumpers"? Thrill seekers jumping into the net.
Who's going to clean the trash, thrown off the bridge, out of the net?
Who will be the first to sue for injuries caused by the net when they jumped into it?

I watched a documentary about Golden Gate suicides. It's called "The Bridge" (2006). They set up multiple camera crews in specific vantage points in the year 2004 and captured about 2 dozen suicides on film and prevented several others from happening. My understanding is that the Golden Gate Bridge is the #2 suicide spot in the world and that they have an average of one every 15 days. I thought it was a really interesting and powerful documentary.

Yep, what Uniman said!!, we seen this last night and that was our first question! What happens when someone tries to jump, gets caught and injured in the net? Sorry, but this is CA, and SOMEONE will be sued over that one! We don't even need ambulance chasing lawyers, the residents do their part...


OR, what happens when the jumper is successful, somehow getting assed the net? Boom, another lawsuit....


I just don't see the reasoning, as I too believe "Where there is a will, there is a way!"
