EEPROM error loop

I have a board here stuck in a eeprom error loop
First boot up it went through the whole cycle
Close door ect
Then after that it just keeps going through the same loop
Testing memory
Netplex devices
Then back to eeprom error
Hit the key and get EEPROM device error -0x4
Then it’ll just go through the same loop
Ran a clear
No change
Boards running
363s and a 100009


Ran this board in 2 cabinets and still does the same, I did read somewhere a chip on the BP could cause this but I will eliminate that being it was in 2 machines already
There’s not a lot of info out there to find for this error that I could find


Anyone have any ideas ??

Odd that you would have a bad eeprom on 2 different mother boards. They haven't been removed on installed backwards have they? 960 MB uses 24c16, enhanced 24c256. Other than that you could post a pic of the MPU with the chips installed to see if anyone notices an obvious problem there.

Ron is that 24c16, on the bp that you are referring to ? Is that what this error points to ?

Yes it's the only socketed (removeable) chip on the MB.

its not letting me upload a pic form my phone and I dont know how to resize it on an iphone, it would make sense that chip is bad in both cabinets, these have been guineea pigs for testing marginal boards for a long time, one bad board coulda did it, I have a BP here I can snag one from and see if condition changes

No change with different 2416
Seems to be taking extra long when checking memory and when booting I have an 8 in the winner paid display

The "8" in the winner paid display isn't normal when it's booting.  I think your problem is likely the MPU board itself.

This board was completely dead, I found a few bad joints on it and brought it to life but there must be more going on I didn’t find
I also have another one here giving system error, I swapped all socketed chips on that no change that’s another with deep issues
I’m gonna eventually build a bench rig to fully hook these up with chips exposed so I can poke around with a scope

Sounds like it.  Any acid damage from a leaky varta battery?  Normally it seems like the traces it damages are related to the door open/closed logic circuits, but it could effect others too.

No damage what so ever this boards spotless, at some point if this was stored in a large pile the flexing could have caused the cold joints, there may be more,it don’t take much to pop an smd joint loose. The time into this board is exceeding its value very quick
