I have a WMS BB Fire Island with a Open DoorD Error and there is no Door D ? All the Cherry switches are working and I have check all the wires & Jacks that I can. I read a article that someone had the same trouble and pushed in a USB plug and it went away. I have checked everything I can. :hissyfit:

The drop door switch is usually jumped in machines sold for the home.  Typically there's not even a switch attached to it.  The harness that has the drop door wires is labeled P5 and it is usually a bunch of wires tied up.  I took photos of mine with and without the jumper.

Hello,
After reading you message here is what I found. My P5 is plugged into a board that says 5V power supply. And then it splits off and purple & Black with a white tracer goes to the top. That’s as far as I got see photos.
Thanks Again

It's not the same p5 cable then.  Post a photo of your entire cabinet area where all the harnesses are at.  I should be able to identify the cable bundle.

Pictures are too low resolution, can't make out anything.  If you want to permanently defeat the drop door switch, you can always short the two wires at the connector on the backplane.  The two pins associated with the drop door are the 4th and 5th pin from left to right top row on connection J10 labeled (Door/Key Switch).  Picture shows the 2 pins.  You can also to make sure it works by inserting a wire to short the two indicated positions on the connector.  You can use a multimeter before you do anything to verify that these are not already jumpered because if they are and you are still getting the error, then it's a backplane issue.

The correct way is to leave the wires on the plug and then splice them together somewhere down the line (if you remove them from the plug, then you are not shorting the switch, the whole point is to short the switch on the back plane to simulate a closed state)  When shorting things like this, I usually make a removable plug, but if you don't have the necessary tools and supplies to make that, then I would go all the way to the end of the wire and splice it there, in case I need to use the length of the wire down the line.  So follow the two wires as far as they go, cut at the end and splice together.

What you did should have worked, but if it did not, you may have a backplane issue.  But before you go get another backplane, you should also verify that your mpu is making full contact with the backplane.  Have a look at the photo below.  The lever that I'm pushing down is as far as it should go.  If it doesn't go that far, it means your mpu is not fully seated.  Apply some downward pressure on the MPU box so that it goes all the way down, then verify with the lever to see if it goes as low as it does on my photo.  Coincidentally if you pull up on the lever, it will lift the mpu out of the backplane connectors.  You also typically use the lever once the mpu is back as far as it will go manually to further push it down a bit more if possible.

The photo is on the post.  In any case look on the bottom left of the mpu, there's a lever if it doesn't go down to about 1/4 inch spacing between the backplane and the bottom part of the lever, your mpu is not inserted all the way into the connectors, and you need to apply downward pressure on the mpu to make sure it is all the way down.  Sorry I don't like giving out my number.  I'm not a slot business and people tend to abuse the privilege, not saying you would, but it has been in the past, so I no longer do that.
