The green cpu uses a 700Mhz pentium III processor that is actively cooled (has a heat sink with a fan on top). Because the fans are prone to failure and to reduce costs, WMS switched to the blue cpu that has a passively cooled Intel Celeron chip running at 650Mhz.  They also switched the batteries to the more common CR2032's from the BR2335.  I'm guessing the NVRAM they switched to has a lower backup current requirement for them to switch to the lower capacity batteries.

The green one is a little bit faster (not really noticeable), but it is more failure prone since it must use an active cooling solution.  If the fan on top of the cpu fails, the cpu will overheat.  The blue one is more reliable  and generates less heat.  It is important to note that a lot of people use these without an mpu door, but on the blue mpu's it is important to use a door since the airflow inside the mpu created by the fan inside the mpu does not work properly without the door.  If using the green one, it is not as important because the cpu has it's own fan.
