Removing the door
« on: June 12, 2020, 04:16:46 PM »
I would like to polish the front of my door in the area behind the coin tray.  To do that, I need to remove the coin tray.   To remove the coin tray, it seems like you would have to remove the door to get access to the left most screw on the coin tray.  I've tried an offset screwdriver but there just isn't enough clearance between the door and the cabinet for it to fit.  Is there any other way of removing the coin tray besides removing the door?

I'm concerned that if I remove the door, it won't be properly aligned when I reinstall it.  Is there an issue with removing and then replacing doors?  Is it plug and play or is there an adjustment to get the door properly aligned with the cabinet.  It looks like I just need to remove the two nuts circled in the picture on each of the hinges.  Is this correct?
Thanks,

Coin tray should be removable without taking the door off.
Post a photo of the tray inside and out.
As to get a better understanding of the situation.

The coin tray is attached to the door by several screws on the perimeter of the coin try.  The last screw is closest to where the door swings open and there is very little clearance to get a screwdriver, even an offset screwdriver, into there.

Apparently you got the 10th machine, as 9 out of 10 that screw will be missing.

A right angle screwdriver will do the trick. Loosen all the screws, then remove that particular screw first.
You might be able to use your fingers once it’s loose.

It’s one indication that the machine has been well maintained or hasn’t changed hands often.

When removing the door, you only need to remove the 2 Phillips Head screws on each hinge. No need to remove the nuts to the cabinet. If there is any door sag, simply hold the outside edge of the door up when reinstalling the screws. With the door off is also a good time to make sure the hinge screws to the door frame are tight.

I ended up buying a set of ultra low profile screwdrivers and got the coin tray removed.  When I'm finished and reinstall the coin tray, hopefully I will still be the tenth instead of David Lee's one through nine!
