Seeburg Slot Machine with movie history.
« on: June 25, 2020, 02:38:55 PM »
Champlin MN 55316
SOLD...

If you have seen the movie 'Casino' this was one of the movie prop slot machines on the second floor. The counter is at 0 [zero] and it appears to be NOS. The owner has papers to back up his claims. It is located in Minneapolis MN for local pickup only. It was considered SOLD but the buyer turned out to be all talk, no action. It will be going back into storage very soon 2 hours to the west of the Twin Cities. Until then it is available for $400 cash and carry...

After asking my buddy about any documentation on the movie use he sent me a internet post he was given to support the story that went with the slot machine when he got it. Not at all what I expected. The article said something to he effect that Mc Laney's Jockey Club was a fully stocked casino but they never were issued a gambling license, so they never opened.

The web post says that one level of the Jockey Club was used to represent the fictitious 'Tangiers' casino in the move Casino. It also went on to say the movie slot machines displayed the 'Tangiers' logo and this cabinet does not. This cabinet displays the Mc Laney's Jockey Club logo on the glass.

Still a 'like new' cabinet of unknown origin, with a kewl story that I can not prove...
If anyone has any better story on Mc Laney's Jockey Club please fill in the blanks...

I know if you could prove it you could try to go on Pawn Stars.
They would love to show it on the show.

Makes me wonder how that machine pays out without a coin tray or ticket dispenser? haha

Does it have a payout chute under it? Looks like this type sits on a stand with the payout tray or bowl built in.

It would be too old to have a ticket dispenser.
Without a coin tray it would pay out just fine, all over the floor.....

This is an article supporting that the Jockey Club Casino never opened.

More Jockey Club info. I believe this is the info given to my buddy to back up the movie claim. What it backs up for my opinion is that this slot machine was probably part of the inventory auctioned off at the bankruptcy auction:

We know that the property was scheduled to feature a small casino and got as far as installing the slot machines and minting the chips. But at the last moment, the Gaming Control Board refused to grant the owner(s) a gaming license, so the casino never opened and we understand that the contents were all sold in a bankruptcy auction. Since none of it had ever been used, collectors still find them today in mint condition (see below).

An interesting fact about the slot machine pictured below, which was apparently manufactured by Seeburg (of jukebox fame), is that it operates off Susan B. Anthony dollars (although it also accepts newer ones, the current owner informed us). The name on the glass -- "McLaney" -- is interesting. Is this the same McLaney who owned the McLaney Carousel casino downtown in the early '70s?

Yes sir...
It 'poops' out silver dollars out the bottom of the cabinet!

Apparently the power cords were cut off when they were auctioned off?
Someone wired up an extension cord to try to fire it up.
It is suppose to light up but the coins just fell through.
