Bally 5500 powering off
« on: September 04, 2014, 08:01:48 PM »
Hello all,
I solved all my post thanks to all the great help I got. I just have one question. With all the work and time I put into my machine I don't want to go through this again.  Is it okay to power down my machine from the switch if I don't want to use it, and will my credits be there when I turn it back on? All my issues were caused by a nasty power surge. Yes I do have it plugged in to a surge protector, but I would feel better if I just powered it down. Please chime in if you have any thoughts.
Attached is my hit after I replaced the MPU..... Wish I could do that in the casino's

Thank you all

Powering the machine off will not cause a problem, most problems occur when the machine is first turned on
due to the instant initial surge of current. This can happen even it the machine was brand new.

Others who know more than I do will probably chime in but I understand that with the power off the batteries don't last very long in the 5500s

I leave mine off for few months at a time and have not had any problems yet. The new battery has been in there 3 years. Maybe it won't last 7 years or it might be dead after typing this !
