S2000 main door alarm
« on: September 29, 2023, 12:11:15 PM »
Hi. I have 2x Phantom of the Opera S2000 games. Both have very annoying feature... When the main door in opened an alarm goes off from the speakers. How to disable this? I didn't find anything from the settings menu.... Looks like the only way to stop it is to press once the small white button on the mpu when the door is open. Any ideas?

Besides the alarm, do both machines work as expected?  Also what does the display say when the door is opened?

Yeah...leave the door closed!  :24:

Go into the options and see if there's any settings you can change on door alarm behaviour?
I'm on vacation....I don't have an S2000 in front me of so I can't check.

It's a bit annoying when you're trying to play quietly in the evening and you run out of coins and need to open the door  :Scratch-Head:
I have cheked all the settings and didn't find anyting related door alarm or security....

While it is sounding, turn the key on the side and see if there is any message on the blue VFD display. Not the test button on the MPU.

Also unplug the machine before you open the door to get coins until you figure out whats causing the alarm to go off.

That's interesting.  I've never seen one alarm when opening the door unless there's an error that takes the machine out of service.  In that case the machine says "Call Attendant" in the VFD, and when you open the door the alarm goes off and the machine will tell you what the error is on the VFD.  Just out of curiosity, what SB/SG/VS game software are you running?

What's also odd to me is that when you press the button, it still says "door open" on the main display.  Pressing that button (even with credits in) should bring up the Operator menu.

Turning the key gives access to the trimmed down Attendant menu. (Menus 1,2 & 4)
Pressing the button gives access to the Operator menu. (menus 1,2,3,4,5,6. plus can view 7)

How do you access the Operator menu?

Ps, I looked all through my machine to be sure, I did not see anything about a door alarm setting.

I don't know why opening the door causes the alarm, but I have a solution that works for playing quietly.  My mother used to love to play her slots at night and whenever she ran out of coins, she would open the door to get coins out of the hopper.  She had a WMS machine, which has an door open alarm, so everytime she would open the door the machine would blast the alarm waking up my dad in the process, so I wired an inline switch to the speaker leads which I instructed her to turn off before she opened the door to avoid the alarm.  You could install a similar switch to the amp power an avoid the alarm that way if you cannot figure out with the door alarm is going off.
