Texas Twin in free play mode (solved)
« on: July 04, 2024, 11:31:10 PM »
Hallo,

My Texas Twin suddenly went into free play mode. This happens after the first play. The Coin Relay on the lower left side of the reel mech activates when i insert a coin and the handle releases. Problem is that it stays powered on after a play, so the switches there wont reset like they normally do with a handle pull. Therefor the handle is released automatically after each play. Checked all the switches on the reel mech and they look ok.

Best regards,  Henrik

I don't have the schematic for a 1069 ... do you?

it's a single coin game coin pay only?

suggest you attach a voltmeter to the coin relay coin terminals and stick the reel mech back in.  See if you always have 50V on the coil.  If you do, can you post pictures of the entire left side of the reel mech with the coin relay reset and tripped?  If pics are too big to post, please email highest possible resolutions pics to slotpics@cdyn.com

Check the coin in switch trip wire. Possibly it is stuck down.
Also, the coin relay switch stack contacts clearance and latching mechanism.

Ok I solved it, it's working like it should again. Sorry about the post, was a little bit quick to post for such an easy solution. Strange, the first time I took out the reel mech and checked the coin relay and the latch and all the switches then everything looked ok. Yesterday when I took out the reel mech again I saw that the coin relay was "closed" even without 50 V current to it. Pulled it gently and it released, like it had a little bit of magnetic power which held it closed. So took the coil apart and cleaned both coil plates and now its working perfectly again. Never seen a coil closed without current before. Well, you learn something new every day with these old Ballys :) No I don’t have schematic to 1069, I have the "wrinkled" schematic to monte carlo (1117) only which I e-mailed you before. Those two machines a identical, only difference is the flip and roulette feature. And I can't get any better pictures then those I emailed. Thank you Wolftalk & DavidLee!

"residual magnetism" is very rare in my experience.  I've maybe seen it once, and that was due to not having a brass screw and washer where needed in an older relay assembly in a pinball machine.

usually the problem is gunk on the coil top or armature plate, and rarely the coil top has dimpled the armature plate to the point burrs have formed and snag the two pieces together occasionally.

Possibly old lubricant, a small obstruction or misalignment.

I'm always looking to add paperwork for games not available on https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/, including the 1069.

do you have a way to scan the schematic?  If not, a bunch of highest possible resolution pictures with the paperwork as flat as possible and overlapping the pics usually works ok.  I can be contacted at slotpics@cdyn.com to figure out how to move the files around as they are too big for NLG.

do you have more paperwork or know of a source for paperwork for the games made for europe/australia?

I can try to take some good pictures tomorrow and email them to you and if you need better I figure out something.

I’m not sure if I have any other schematics you don’t have but I will have a look at my storage..
