Since the 61-2 went away. Press the test button again, should get 61-1 then close door, push latch all the way down, then turn key. Under your coin comp. you will see a list of codes and what to do.

Progress! So the code went away, the machine did its initial spin, and the "insert coin" light went on. Coins are still falling right through, and the red light on top of the machine is flashing. I think the machine is free of code 61 though?

RockinElvis, I don't see a list under my coin comparitor?

Normally a sheet of paper on the inside of door below the cc. Check your sample coin to see if it is seated right. Don't worry about the top light, it will stop after the first paid game. There could be a problem with the coin rake solenoid. Hopefully it's just the sample coin.

I believe it is seated right, but am not sure? Is the coin supposed to rest in the little valley of the black piece on the left side of the cc?

Also, the green light on the CC (sits right next to the serial number line) isn't on, should it be?

The coin comparitor light doesn’t come on till the doors closed. Here is a pic of how the coin sits in the comparitor.

I should mention that the guy who sold it to me said that his son thought the coin comparitor was the problem, I believe his son probably tinkered a little bit wit the CC, to what extent I could not guess.

With the door open push the small button under the cc. Each push should give a credit, push spin reels button

The coin comparitor used in a S+ should have grey wire coming out of the coil. The comparitor used in the S2000 use the one with green wires. The Green wire one is a 13V coil, the Grey one is 24V. They both have a 6 pin connector plug. It is possible that the capacitor on the board inside the comparitor is bad.

If you remove the cc by pulling it off the plastic clips you will see the back of it. There is a rake that when energized moves it to allow the coin to enter the optics then into the hopper. You can wire it so all coins go through, but be careful not to let anything different than the sample coin go in as the hopper can get jammed.

Before cutting those wires, I would just put a piece of folded paper under it to keep it open. If it works, then you either have a comparitor problem or coin in optics.

I do not approve of cutting wires. I suggested using a piece of wire to hold the rake open. Never tried paper, will put that in my notes. If holding the rake open lets the coins fall into the hopper and gives credits, then we know optics are good and can focus on power to the rake solenoid. This topic has gotten way too long and off topic from the original. And as we say ALL the time. Pictures, Pictures, Pictures. We all know these machines well and without pictures we are working blind

I think holding open the rake is a good test. I used wire ties on one of my machines.

I have had tokens in the past stop working. I have always been suspect of the metal properties but never sure how they would just stop working but they do.
You might try removing your sample coin and replacing it with a different one. Cant hurt.

There is also a sensitivity dial - you might try cranking that all the way down to see if that makes a difference.
