WTB: Generic Topper Insert
« on: August 28, 2015, 09:50:56 AM »
I'm looking for a generic topper insert for this Bally topper.

I've attached a picture of the topper that was posted in another thread.

I haven't found any yet - but I think
I'm going all in and going to try to find
A video topper.  I think they are not as tall
Which is what I'll need when this moves
Into the Gameroom.

Also I need to replace one led on my
Topper.   It's on the top and driving
Me insane.

We have generic plexi made for those toppers.  I'll check tomorrow and make sure we have plenty so I can sell one.  The video toppers are really nice but you need a media player to run video to it if you don't have the original driver board.  The video toppers usually come on the Alpha Pro 2.  They either get the video directly from the game through the media board or if the game doesn't support that, it gets the video file from a USB memory on the media board and loops the file.  I have some of the video toppers too but i'm out of the driver boards.  Also, odds are that it's not just the LED that's out on your ring.  A lot of the time we find problems with small ICs that drive the leds.  Even if it is the LED, they're soldered in.

Video topper is the way to go. Although the height is the same with a Super Candle installed.
"Most" A2 games will drive the video from the Bottom VGA port on the Engine. If the game doesn't support the video output, Casinos used a CoolSign or other Server based video player. The trick to that is finding the video files. New A2 games utilize whats called a Patriot Board to drive video toppers. But again, with Patriot Boards, you'll need the SD card with the video files on it. For most home users, a cheap MP3 player from Ebay works just fine repeating still images or looping a video.
