eBay already sides with the customer (buyer), it just makes it even easier for dishonest buyers to get their money back. By pure luck, I still haven't been forced onto Managed Payments but I know it's only a matter of time; eBay Australia hasn't quite finished transitioning everyone across to MP yet.
Ironically, the only time the seller gets some form of protection is through the Global Shipping Program, but it's a double-edged sword - international buyers absolutely hate it because the GSP/Pitney Bowes is ridiculously expensive for sending small/cheap items. For example, the GSP charges around $40 (AUD, so about $25-$30 USD) to ship anything from the US to Australia, even for something tiny like a DVD or a Nintendo Switch game which would otherwise go at the USPS large letter rate for around $10 (AUD).
