Aristocrat Honey Money
« on: September 14, 2018, 05:42:50 PM »
Hi Guys,
I am an absolute newby to this forum and Poker machines. I just pickes up this Machine. It doesn't fire up . On inspection the 24v fuse is blown ...replaced it and popped straight away. I checked out inside the head and it looks like someone has had a hack at the power supply board ..( see pics). the bottom connector has got the second top wire just shoved in. The Salmon colored wire doesn't have a home. Looks like it might of been soldered just below the brown wire but has been broken off.
Could some one please advise what should go where and or does someone have a schematic. i do up Pinballs as a hobby so pretty comfortable having a crack at repairing.
Thanks in advance

Can you post a picture of the inside of your machine? I'm not any expert on these but sometimes there's a number of basic things to start with. First (unplug!) look ALL AROUND the back of the machine around everything you can. Coins love to fall all around out of the hopper when these things are moved, without removing the hopper. Was this machine 220V at one time? Check the tags on the side. I'm just curious.

Thanks for replying shortrackskater.

I have disconnected everything from the power supply one by one trying to workout what is taking out the 24v Line.
With everything disconnected , Reel Mech , Coin Mech and CPU . Still blowing bloody fuses. At this stage I feel there is something funky with the power supply board?
The Machine doesn't is not marked 240V , which is odd,. I am pretty curtain it is as there were a heap of these around in the day and it is set up for 10c AU.
At this stage i dont even know what model it is as I cannot find anything on the machine to enlighten me.

I someone could let me know that that would be a great start..Schematics would be super!
Cheers

Are there any tags on the machine showing the model? I know it's an Aristocrat "Espirt" but I know so little on these.
We do have some schematics here on the forum - I'm looking through them but it's really difficult for me to determine anything at this stage. You can access them when you're a contributing member, but for now I'd like to make sure they will be of any help.
Can you post a picture of the INSIDE of this machine?
So far the only thing I've found was a thread with a photo of another Aristocrat power supply. You might be able to check all the wires and figure out if there's a missing connection. The connectors look similar but it's hard to tell.
Silly question but did you make sure the fuse you're replacing is the proper one? It might be labeled near or on the fuse cap. I think you'd know this already if you're working with pinball machines.

Thx again shortrackskater.

Here is a pic of the machine. The power supply has been removed for checking.

Cheers

I could be wrong but I don't think there are a lot of people familiar with your machine here on NLG. And the amount of documentation is limited, it is mostly for newer Aristocrat machines.

Here's a place that sometimes has manuals for older machines:

http://www.coinslots.com/manuals/aristocrat/

Not all of their manuals are listed online. You can contact them and tell them the name and model of your machine, include a photo of the front of it and ask them if they have a manual for it.
