DBV-145-SS-6031-B022 takes, than rejects all types of bills

I recently acquired an IGT S+ Slant Top Double Diamond Slot Machine. I've gotten it working again however, the bill validator has issues. I did the set chip set-up and turned it on and set the denomination correctly. The bill validator cycles on power up, and lights up. It even sucks bills in but, just spits them all back out. Perhaps its an old version or doesn't accept newer bills. It's a DBV-145-SS6031-B022 Software version 2.15. Can it be made to work?
 What the best option to get a working bill validator. Can I go with a DBV-200? I hope to get one that accepts most newer bills and is interchangeable. I have read that some power supplies may need swapped with newer validators. Who or where would be the best person or place to contact?

Will that 145 take a $1.00 bill? I don’t think they take any of the new colored bills..

From what I've read, it should take $1.00 but, I tried to stuff several in it and it spit them back out at me. I wish my wife gave me money back like this machine.

Loosen up the moving parts of the bill transport behind the head with some light oil.
Then try the dollar again, also all of the switches on the bottom of the BV  head should be off.

Your BV software is pretty old, getting a 200 head would give you the capability to vend the new $20 and the old $100.

Start with the 1.00 bill. The DBV145 does not take (nor can it be made to) any of the newer bills.
The DBV145 only accepts money in 2 directions. Make sure your inserting the money in the correct direction as shown.
You can put it in any direction but it will come back out if its not facing the right way.
I don't know about loosing belts etc, but you might want to go to HAPP and purchase a cleaning card.
Some people also take theirs apart and clean with a wet wipe. Do not use Alcohol or windex with any of the optics.
Water and if you must a mild dish soap like dawn.

The DBV200 is a 4 way accepter. It can take money in any of the directions.
If your purchasing new you can get it to accept all of the new money except for the new $5 which came out after the last release.
The power supply for the 145 & the 200 are interchangeable but the 145 does not have sufficient wattage to drive the 200 properly.
You can tell the difference because the 200 has ventilation fins and the one for the 145 does not. You will want to change the power supply when you change heads.

IGT stopped paying JCM (Japanese Cash Machine) for new software development for the S+ platform. So while a DBV200 or WBA (World Bill Acceptor) can accept all of the new money when used with Bally, IGTS2000 etc. It falls short at the new colored $5.

I don't mind the DBV only accepting bills face up. I wasn't sure with how old it is and the software version, if it would even take any bill. Since I'm trying to keep repair costs down, I guess the better question to ask, whats my best option to get it to accept bills. Fix this one of buy another DBV? I prefer not to buy another power supply so I guess a DBV-200 is out. Can I update my current DBV-145 or is it best to buy a working one that has the newest software available. I understand that $5 and newer $100 will never work.

The 145 bill unit was the first made, it had limitations, only had 512k memory chip. another issue was the IDO feature,  it could only support one IDO at a time. for example,  your SP chip had IDO-022 installed, then you had to match the chip in the 145 head to that IDO, if your SP chip had an IDO-023 then the chip in the head had to match,  the 200 head over came that issue, it has both IDO's in the software and is able to select using switch 10. also accepts the money four ways.
I would try and put you old SP chip back in the game and see if that will correct your issue,  SP731  is a IDO 023 chip.  SP708, 709  might be IDO 022 type chips???.  typical mismatch of the IDO is shown with the coin -in lamps, usually they will blink rapidly when a bill is inserted and held momentarily before being rejected.

I have several of the newer power supplies that I would give you and a 200 head for a discount price plus shipping. 200 heads had a common flaw, the power connector would become intermittent because of the rough handling taking the unit in and out unjamming bills, this unit has one of those plugs that is intermittent, but as long as you don't bump it or bang it the units operates fine.

Luckily, Jim is going to help me out (again). He is selling me a DBV-200 with a compatible power supply. I pulled the entire DBV-145 (see pictures). Is that the older power supply?

The power supply is a black box to the left of bill validator.
It has a 6 pin white connector that plugs into the side of the bill head.

the power supply is a black plastic box located to the left of the bill unit, it has the two plugs that plug into the left side of the 145. you have to open the other compartment to see the power supply, the latch is underneath the compartment behind the reels.

Lets try this again. Here is a picture of the power supply. It has vented louvers. Is it safe to say that it IS compatible with a DBV-200?

I swapped out the old, defective DBV-145 and installed a good DBV-200 that I purchased from Jim. Works fantastic now. Accepts several different types of bills and give appropriate credits. Bills are stacked neatly in the cash box. Thanks Jim (once again), for the fair price.
