IGT HAYWIRE MACHINE MODEL B5033CFIW 1993 Issue
« on: May 23, 2020, 08:17:24 PM »

Hi,
I am a new member looking for some help with a 1993 Haywire slot.  I purchased it a couple of years ago and it was working fine.  Then I noticed that some of the lights stopped working, but the machine still worked.  Then it stopped working, the coins just dropped right through.  I had some work done on my basement so I did nothing with it for about 9 months.  I just plugged it back in last week and most of the lights came on but it would not work.  I left it for a couple of days, and when I came back to it the top dome light was blinking slowly.  I put in some quarters and it worked fine!  I played for an hour or so with no issues.  Then when I went back the next day it stopped working again.  When I turn on the machine and close the door everything lights up except the ("Change/Cash Credit/One Bet" Buttons) and nothing is in the ("Winner Paid" /"Credits"/"Coins Played" windows). When I close the door the reels don't spin and when I put a coin in the slot it falls into the coin return on the front.  The 3 fuses in the front look fine, and pressing the reset button does nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Their is a white molex plug behind the hopper that plugs into the motherboard.
Try moving that plug and check to see if the reels lock up
That plug could be going bad

Thanks for the quick response.  I'll give that a try and see what happens.

I took out the coin holder and wiggled all of the connectors there.  I then reassembled the coin holder and turned the machine on.  It made some of the usual noises but those lights did not come back on and the coins continue to drop straight through.

With the power on and the door open - are the reels stiff or are they loose ?
If they are loose its likely the power issue that has been linked to this post.
You can clean those pins with a white eraser and you might consider taking a pen knife to them just to ensure they have some scrapes and make good contact.

If the reels are stiff and the game is not working then we are likely more looking at door optics.
Given that this is intermittent It might be something as simple as the door being slightly open on the cash can.
When machines are sold to the home market they remove those locks and sometimes the cash can door swings slightly open.
I would suggest that you close it tight and put on a strip of electrical or duct tape to hold it in place.

If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.
