Newbie bally bonanza
« on: July 18, 2020, 11:26:16 AM »
Hello I’m Stevie, I recently bought a bally bonanza slot machine from a friend.
Offcourse it has issues but i think i can work it out.
Normally i repair vintage audio. And i like to do some woodwork too.
My plan is to first read and read about these machines and there problems before i fire questions.
Although a manual would be helpfull🙃
I don’t care about the value, but i think it’s a pretty rare model?
-first things to do-tips- are welcome offcourse

what's the full model number on the plate under the handle?  It's the top number ... the bottom one is the serial number.

some generic manuals are on http://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/.  I may have some paperwork, but probably not a schematic.

I don't have anything.  The game was made for Holland, so most of them would have shipped there.

here's some drawing numbers:

schematic              : w-1046-1779
bonus unit              : w-1075-13
payout counter       : w-923-442
reel contact boards : w-1041-[2609-2613]

some of the circuits may be similar to the 1103, or if nothing else you can use that schematic to get an idea of how they tended to design the games.

Got it working good so far!
A lot of cleaning , and adjusting contacts.
A few broken wires and repaired a beau plug.
Only little problem is that the ‘b switch’ gets hit for a verry, verry short time . Sometimes not enough to power the counter reset relay  .. also has this relay a bad contactfinger.  But i’ m happy sofar. 🥳

if the contact is shot, you can get new contacts/blades from the pinball parts suppliers or scrounge some used switch blades with good contacts and swap them.  A picture of the switches with a tape measure next to them would help.  The blade length and the distance between the two stack holes/screws are the important dimensions.

below is what a EM slot book says about the B switch(es).  Another possible issue is something wrong with the clock and the timer links are moving too fast.  If the first reel is latching too fast, you have a problem.

-----------------------

The "B" switch is in the  open position where  it remains  but for a  segment of the  kickoff/wind-down phase.  To adjust this  switch,  set the timer link to its longest stroke by turning the variator counterclockwise  until the variator link reaches  its shortest  length.  Hold  the  clock  fan  and  cycle  the  reel mechanism.  The "B" switch should close and stay closed until it is off the ramp portion of the timer link.

Repeat the above process but with the variator set with the variator link arm  reaching its longest length, resulting in the timer link having its shortest stroke. Again the "B" switch  should  close  at kickoff and stay closed as long as it is on the  ramp portion of the timer link.
