Frankenstein converted BB1 cabinet
« on: February 11, 2021, 08:19:31 PM »
Can 22" LCD monitors for a BB2 fit in a BB1 cabinet?

Same dimension sized holes and mounts or no?

Aren't those 19" screens and one 7" screen?

I wanna stick my bench test Frankenstein BB2 in one.

Short answer is yes if you have a standard or tall top box.  If you have a 9" top box you will have to change it out.

Long answer is you have to modify the door and top box to make them fit.  You will have to make up some straps to hold the monitor in the door too.  I added a BB2 bezel to mine to trim out the monitor in the door, otherwise it looks unfinished.  More metal cutting to make it fit properly.  There was a topic about this some time ago. Some of us old timers on here started out doing this when NLG was in it's infancy as NLG.net.  Not sure if any of that is still available.  The may be some info on this topic here too.  Attached is an image of one of my machines as I sold it.  The one in my Avatar was eventually converted to a BB3 Wonka when I sold it.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

Yeah...I remember seeing at that back then on the old website....thanks
I was into S+s at the time though....not these videos.
I find I still don't really like these....give me an ol' 5-reeler DD w/Bonus Spins any day and I'm happy... :rotfl:

I have two BBII's to copy harnesses and stuff and fool around with but I have a chance to get my hands on the older BB1 model cabinet out here in the northeast that's much cheaper to buy and convert easily enough.I just didn't know the sizes of the door cutout of a BB1.
That speaker grill looks different for sure than on my BBII.

BTW does Williams write these Bluebird platform names as in Roman numerals or plain numbers? :scratch-head_3:
