Bally 1114 coin lockout coil.
« on: December 31, 2023, 06:08:54 PM »
Recently I have a issue with the coin lockout coil, (and yes its a coil) on the 1114 $1.00 slot machine. When I put in three coins, pull the handle the coil acts irrational, like its losing power for a brief moment, continually, over and over again. Kinda like a switch that's not making contact 100%, or a weak coil.

Any help, assistance, throw it my way please.

from your previous pics, you have a coin scavenger system typical on a large diameter coin slot (see below)

the scavenger system works opposite the more common lockout system ... which also has a coil.  Pedantically the scavenger coil is a solenoid coil (has a plunger), while the lockout coil is just a coil (or relay coil).

on a scavenger, the coil is powered when the game wants to reject coins.  On a lockout system, the coil is powered when the game wants to accept coins.

when you have deposited three coin and before pulling the handle, the scavenger coil is powered thru a coin relay switch and a coin unit make-at-top switch (pin switch operated by a peg poking out of the coin unit ratchet/gear).

as soon as you start pulling the handle tho, other switches can cause the coil to power.  All have yellow wire 30 and yellow/red wire 31-1 on the switch:
- handle microswitch - closed when handle is not up.
- reel mech C-4 switch - closed during windup and while reels are spinning
- payout relay switch - closed when payout relay is powered during payout

when you pull the handle, the coin relay resets, so one of the first two switches above power the scavenger.  If it's flaky, which one depends on where the handle is.  Handle up, then check the C-4 switch.  Handle partially pulled, check the microswitch.

... and plug connections for the above switches.
