Bally Game Maker "Doors to riches" BIN file confusion.
« on: September 18, 2015, 09:32:17 PM »
I keep getting ERROR when I try to run the game.
I'm using my EasyPro80B, selecting the proper chip 27c512, burning as a BIN file. Chip registers as blank, burn goes fine and verifies "successful" but I just get ERROR when running the game.
I have 5 on file... three numbers look correct but I'm guessing they're different percentages. I have no idea what the other two files are. I've only done this once! Any ideas?

Is your chip speed same as original software?

Hey,

Wrong size eprom.  Looks to be a 1mb file. Use 27C1001 or equiv.

Richard

added: Could only find par sheet for X0029 with max payout of 1500, at 89.01%.  Other files may have higher payback, but would have to burn to check.

First file X0029 is the same as the 4th file listed.

Thanks Roz and Ricker (sounds like a law firm  :rotfl: )

Weird I thought I had my chips organized! I had put those in one bin and labeled them BALLY GAME MAKER.... oops!
I'll try again tonight.
Where have you been ricker? Nice to have you back. Hope you got my PM! Thank you for the gift! :)

UPDATE: Most of my games are 27c512... does this game just require more space? All I have are 27c4001 and 27c4002.

Got it to work. I did have a spare 27c1001. It also worked a 27c010.
I wish there was a better cross reference chart. I've found a few but it still confuses me. My burner also is crappy at the "auto" identify chip when it's not shown in the list in the burner's software.
But it all worked and now I have "doors to riches" on my GM. Kind of a fun game... simple but a nice change from all the card games. I'd still love to find that elusive "roulette" game!

From what I've read the 27c010 and the 27c1001 are equivalent chips as far as storage size (128k) and pinout, so one will work in place of the other on a board. The part numbers are different due to the different companies that make them. And they use slightly different programming requirements but your eprom burner will take care of that when you select the correct manufacturer. The 27c1001 are generally made by ST Microelectronics, NEC, Fujitsu and a few other smaller chip companies. The 27c010 are made by the big companies like AMD, Intel, Atmel, Fairchild and Hitachi.
