Model: Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Symptom: Dead

A/B board set came from a local auction buy. Battery was rolling around inside cart.

Removed ROMs 3-8, erased them, and reprogrammed them with suicide free code. Board booted but had distorted sound and incorrect graphics. Programmed and installed missing BGSG1 PAL on daughter board. Reset improper jumpers JP10 through JP29 and board booted with proper sound and graphics. Tested game.

NOTES: BGSG1 PAL controls sound ROM decoding. BGSG2 PAL controls graphic ROM decoding. Board appears to have been a swap where someone was attempting to fix another cartridge. That's the only explanation I could think of for all the incorrect jumper settings and the missing PAL.

Symptom: Dead. Blue Screen.

Erased ROM 3 and reprogrammed it with suicide free code. Tested.

Model: The Punisher
Symptom: Dead

Removed batteries from the C board and Q sound board. Modified both boards to use phoenix code and replaced the necessary EPROMs with faster ones using the phoenix code. Tested.

NOTE: Do not use any non-AMD EPROM slower than 150ns and AMD EPROM slower than 120ns when phoenixing CPS1 or CPS1.5 games as they will experience random crashes.

Removed battery and modified C board to use the phoenix code. Reprogrammed 2 EPROMs with phoenix code and tested.

Board had shipping damage - the solder pad for one of the battery terminals broke loose from the board.

Removed battery. Erased and reprogrammed ROM 3 and ROM 4 with suicide free code. Tested.

Replaced bad CPS-A-01 surface mount custom on the A board and tested.

Symptom: Reboots when fighting starts

Moved the ROMs over to a replacement B board, installed the board, and tested.

Model: Strider
Symptom: Vertical lines in graphics

Board had corrosion issues from having a dirt dauber (wasp) nest on it.

Swapped out A and C boards to narrow it down to a B board problem. Cleaned the board and retested. Patched 2 damaged traces and tested.

Board was repaired as part of a "repair party" here in the shop. A walk-through of using a logic probe was done in tracing out where the data signals were missing.

Board had suicided. Programmed IC3 and IC4 with suicide-free code and tested.

Symptom: Dead

Board had suicided and a pin on the A board was bent. Programmed IC3 and IC4 with suicide-free code, straightened the bent pin, and tested. Board had lines in foreground graphics and corrupted text. Patched a corroded plated-thru hole on pin 64 of the IC at 7M to fix the corrupted text. Patched a corroded trace on pin 74 of the IC at 7J to fix the lines in the graphics. Tested.

Model: Street Fighter II
Symptom: Graphic corruption

Board was very dirty and had some dirt and corrosion in sockets. Cleaned the A, B, and C boards and reflowed the custom chip on the C board. Replaced 10 40pin sockets, cleaned the pins on the ROMs, and tested.

Model: Saturday Night Slam Masters
Symptom: Dead

Modified C board and replaced ROM 23 with one programmed with suicide free code. Modified the Q-Sound board and replaced the ROM with suicide free code and added a 4002 IC between the A board and the Q-Sound board to finish the resurrection. Tested.
