61 In Display COnfirmation

SP731 game chip

STarted with bad battery code.
Replaced battery
Read on here about 61 codes
Also read about chip clearing is the last option

Power up
No reels spin
Bill mechanism runs
Top candle light fast flash
61 in Winner Paid

Pressing reset doesnt make any change==
No beep
No 61-1 change

TUrning rest key does move Coin Paid display through its numbers

So--
ANy other tricks to get this beast into its 61-1 display mode or is this a machine in need of a chip reset ?

Are you pressing the button in until it dings or just pressing it once?  Hold it in until it dings. (couple seconds)

Tried both--
quick 1 press
and
hold for 23- sec
and hold for 10 sec
No change
no ding (also checked the volume control set to middle :-))

Make sure the battery is installed properly and make sure the RAM chip is getting the battery voltage.

Battery polarity correct
Solder joints on its leads are good
No visible damage to board.  this battery was just dead-- not corroded

Any quick checks ?  This machine is at my SIL's place which is a 3 hr drive.  I dont get up here but once a month or so.

Should I order a clear and set chip set to bring next trip ?

Yes, get a set and clear chip and instructions but also get a replacement power cord from the backplane to the transformer box.
You could have a burnt pin on the white power connector on the backplane board.
Worst case you could also have a burnt header pin on the backplane board where the white connector plugs in.

Where might I purchase a clear chip and the related set chip sets ?  I'll check for burnt connectors but as this is a once a month visit, I'd like to carry a set of chips with me

Do I need the reel chip number ?  The game chip is SP 731.  It has a bill aceptor

Since I am having the same problem I am wondering if I need just the clear chip or the clear and reset chips?  My game chip is SP 708.
