Reel 5 tilt
« on: August 04, 2019, 08:23:45 AM »
I have a S2000 slot machine. it has1270 board with a intermittent reel 5 tilt. I tried swiping Reels, I/O card and the card connected to the reel shelf in the back of the machine.

Any suggestions?

I'm just guessing, I don't have much experience in this but I'll take a stab at it.

What happens if you swap reel positions ? Does the problem follow the reel ? Try cleaning the reel optics.

Thanks for the thought, I have tried that already, The problem stays with reel five. I've been playing this game for a couple of days now and the problem seems to occur more when the machine is cold or first turned on. Once the game is warm or left on it plays perfect, however this observation is based on a small sampling, 72 hours of use.
Again this machine was one of the many I had I'm game room at my old house and it was working perfect a few years ago.

History of recent repairs.

Replaced battery in board.

After problem showed itself I swapped reel 5 with a new reel out of box, changed I/O card near the CPU and The I/O card (sorry can't remember its name) that the reel shelf plugged into at the back of the machine.

Problem still comes back to "reel 5 tilt", intermittently. :Scratch-Head:

What is the game theme & what SG chips are you using on that 1270?
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Ok, you're good there. Usually older SG chips will cause reel tilts on a 1270 especially at boot up. Check the reel harness itself especially at the reel 5 connector & the mother board connector. A damaged wire can cause that too. Most of the reel 5 wires are purple. One other thing you can check is the pins on the enhanced memory board. AKA daughter board, legacy board.

I replaced the the shelf and harness from a know good machine and I still get the reel 5 tilt.

Is it posable the Mother board or Daughter board is causing this?
Should I try going back to the earlier boards?
Is it posable the chips have become corrupt?

Again thanks for the help,

If you have one I would try another 1270.
I had one like that and I switched it into a 3 reel machine and have had no problems.

Sorry for not getting back sooner, i had to put a walk in tub in for my father in law.

So here is the latest, The reel 5 tilt is almost always constant or tilts within a few minutes, can anyone help me work this out I now have a reel touch doing the same thing, I swapped out the mother and daughter boards to a model 1952-2 in both machines which caused the problem to be constant (reel five tilt) I swapped power supplies reel shelves and all new reels.

thanks for any help

I'm starting to think mechanical. The #5 reel becomes really close to hitting the door when it is closed are you positive that it is not rubbing on the front display? Also check the wires for the fluorescent reel bulb on the door sometimes they will drag across the reels when the door is closed.  When you installed the reel shelf you should keep pressure inward as you secure it to make sure the reels go back in the cabinet as far as possible.

I can't believe it was that simple, I did not see any rubbing marks on the reels so I ignored that option, turns out the aftermarket led light I used in the door changed shape and was ever so slightly rubbing reel five.

thanks again

I had that problem with an S+....could not figure it out...swapped everything. :banghead:

It turned out that the screws holding the reel glass display were just loose enough to lean inwards to touch the slightly crooked reel basket rim to cause the tilt.  :duh: :rotfl: :rotfl:
