Bill Validator Stacker / Door Open MB
« on: September 16, 2019, 06:54:29 PM »
Hello,
I recently purchased my first-ever slot machine (double red white and blue) and it has worked without a hitch since I bought it. Several times I have removed the bills in the storage unit and had no issues. Yesterday when I put it back, I got a "Bill Validator Stacker Open" and "Door Open MB" error which has persisted despite numerous attempts to reseat the bill validator. At one point I got rid of the bill validator stacker open error and the candle light stopped flashing but the door open MB error persisted. After attempting to close it a few times I got a "bill validator comm failure" error but this has since switched back to Bill Validator Stacker Open and the candle light is once again flashing.

I am a complete novice at slots and have no spare parts to swap out so I'm not sure where to begin. The machine is under warranty from the seller but I am hoping this is something I can tinker with before going that route. As far as I know, I live nowhere near any slot machine repair shops.
Thank you

Welcome.

Make sure the door to the cash box is staying closed or bypass the switch.

And then look at your MPU board.  See a green varta battery leaking a green substance?  If so, cry for a minute or two, then see if your vendor will replace the MPU board for you.  Wish I had a dollar for every MPU board those batteries have ruined.

Door seems to be staying closed just fine. Not sure what bypass the switch refers to?

As far as I can tell, there is no such issue.

That's not the MPU, that's the bill validator (you have a WBA12).  The MPU is the pull out tray mounted vertically on the left side of the cabinet next to the hopper.  Pull that out and take a photo.  We need to see the battery area to make sure there is no visible battery acid damage.

Yes. See the corrosion on the board where the Varta battery used to be. That's most likely the problem.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

So is this something I can fix or do I need to contact the seller?

I would certainly try to get another board from the seller. Doubt seriously if it can be repaired. Good luck!

Well dang. Sounds good. I re-pulled it out and it only barely looks corroded. Anything else I should try to troubleshoot the issue?
Totally unrelated, but is there a way I can make my bill validator accept $2 bills. Not all that important but I happen to have one in my wallet and it has always spit it back out. Takes other denominations just fine (well...until this present issue).

No... I don’t think these bill acceptors were ever programmed to accept a $2.00 bill.

Are you sure the door latch is fully seated all the way down when you close the door? After checking that it is probably the mpu board.  That picture shows significant corrosion where the Varta battery used to be.

Figured as much. Not a huge issue as they're so uncommon. Is it possible to get a new bill acceptor that will work? What would that cost aprox?

Yeah I've messed with it probably 25 times so I think it's seated fine. Is it worth trying to clean the board with 91% isopropyl alcohol or some baking soda or something else?

The acid damage is done.  Cleaning the board will not repair it.  The  board needed cleaned when the battery was removed by whoever.  This is a common problem.  You will need another board to get your machine working.

It still seems odd to me that the machine worked perfectly fine - even minutes before - opening the cash box.

For whatever reason the bill stacker error is gone and the candle light is no longer flashing but I still have the Door Open MB error and cannot use the machine. Is this treated differently?

I have a small pile of MPU Boards that don’t work, and many don’t even have any acid damage. They don’t give any warning when they are going to die.

Double check your door optic wiring on the door side. That wire moves every time the door latch is opened and closed. I have seen then wear on the door causing a wire to break.

There's a wire that looks like some sort of ground wire wrapped in a clear plastic casing. The casing looks a bit damaged but the wire seems fine.

The customer service people I have been dealing with have basically told me that I just need to shut the door better so if I were to try and get a new MPU board, how would I do that?
