Bally s6000 error Code 20

Got a machine owners says was working when it got error code 81.  I replaced battery, performed full clear.  It seems to go through the clear process correctly, reels spin slowly and then lock up after calibration.  Code 50, shut door, insert coins (all fall through to hopper) but do not register.  From time to time I get the error code 20 but not always.  I've changed the coin in optic board with several spares.


Dip switch 1 has all switches in ON position.  Correct???
Dip switch 2 has 3, 5, 7 & 8 ON
Dip switch 3 has all ON


Machine does not have a printer or a BV,  has coin comparitor and hopper only.
I have performed he clear process several times.

Dip switch 1 : all ON expect 8 --> OFF


The sw8 is use for the clear ram procedure. Put ON to clear, put OFF to play.

Dip SW 1 all off,  8 on only during clear, then off.

Ds1 all off
Ds2 3,5,6,7,8 on for a $.25 game
Ds3 all on
Make sure coin mech switch is up on the front of mpu. If you still get a 20 code try a different coin mech.

I've tried all switches ON dsw 1 (turn 8 on during clear, 8 OFF after clear).  Also tried all OFF (8 ON during clear, OFF after clear).
Still won't register coins, coins drop trough to the hopper.
I've tried 2 different CPU, many coin in optics, wire harness.
Could this possibly be the motherboard?

Did you clean the prism glass . Does it have the proper size coin guide in the optics.

I've cleaned and used a second prism glass, it does have the proper size coin chute for quarters.

Toggle switch on CPU is in UP position and insert coin light flashes (when the coin switch is down the Insert Coin light does not light up).


I have tried 3 CPU boards, 2 backplanes, several coin in optic boards, prisms, coin comparitors.  I've checked that option 81 is set 0001 (for coin comparitor).  I've tried another power supply as sugested too.  Quarters fall through to hopper but do not register.  If I drop token it is rejected to tray.  I'm not getting any error codes at this time.


there is an option 69 that allows you to select type coin comparitor but I can't find #69 when I toggle through the options.

It sounds like you're not getting a signal from your optics  to the MPU. Do you have another harness to go from the optics all the way to the backplane?

Fixed!!!!!
I finally found a harness (motherboard to door) and changed it out, Machine now accepting coins!!!!
