Anyone know if this bill validator can process new 2-5-10 etc. notes, or is is old-school?

It depends on what machine you'e using them for.
Different model machines use different protocols and firmware.
They are NOT interchangeable.

What country uses $2 bills?

Thanks for the response. That link shows a newer design, the one I have here is old-school design far as I can tell.

$2 still used in the US. I get them by the 100-pack at my local bank. Make great tips.

I suspect the device I have is not good for new $$.

You still didn't tell me what machine your BV is for.
What you suspect about your Cash Code BV versus what slot techs can do, are two different things.

To be honest, I'm not sure exactly what this machine does. It's a casino machine that distributes these small cards, like bingo cards with numbers on them. I don't have any samples of the product, and the machine has had some serious use over the years, but the customer wants to re-purpose this and get it going.

It uses some sort of power supply to run it, which I don't have, so I need to do some research on it. The complaint was, the machine doesn't work. If the BV doesn't take cash, then yeah, it won't work.

Pretty sure that if you Google the make & model of the machine, the company will have some sort of replacement, upgraded BV available? 
That would be easier than trying to get anything from Cash Code?
First, Cash Code's going to want the machine's specs, and most likely your registered repairer's license number, to have access to any firmware upgrade.

Secondly, you might need special programming equipment and software to flash an embedded IC chip...if that's the case.
Is there a programming port on the BV that would help you decide whether or not you have anything to flash it with?
If not, then your options would be severely limited to sending out the BV somewhere to be upgraded...where? I would say the machine manufacturer.

I'm guessing it'd be easier just to replace the entire unit with a different, more current part.

Not sure if the connections to the unit are industry-compatible - probably not.

Two small connectors at the base of the enclosure as far as I can see. I haven't delved into the machine yet, but once I do, it's gonna be fun.
