Identification Assistance
« on: March 06, 2015, 02:11:33 PM »
Picked up this machine over the past weekend for next to nothing with the intent of simply stealing the bill validator out of it and trashing the rest. Upon getting it home I plugged it in and it seems I have an almost fully functioning machine that has potential. As far as I can tell I am just missing the coin mech and some electronics around it. The machine has already been upgraded to an LCD panel and has some sort of a ticket system instead of coin output. The bill validator also isn't original as I don't believe IGT used PTI (plus only accepting 1's and 5's seems a little pointless). The error message as you can see in one of the pictures is "coin in jam". I figure the first step here is to identify what the machine is. Google isn't being as helpful as usual, except for the fact that it brought me here  :cool_thumb_up: . Once I know what it is I can figure out exactly what is missing and whether or not it's worth keeping. Thanks!!!

Thinking maybe it is or was an IGT S+, at least that's what the id plate model number came up as. I don't think mounting the mpu board to a piece of wood is something IGT would do to a production model. Maybe it is a prototype or someone created their own slot. That white pvc coin chute is also something DIY.

Might have used home-made slot tickets they printed themselves that the BV could read, so people could play. Players could make a donation to a charity and get a handful of gaming tickets. Or they'd play with real $1 & $5 bills, then receive winnings on tickets they could redeem for prizes. It looks so clean and shiny, like it isn't very old or wasn't played much.

Interesting...

Perhaps it is from the local Knights of Columbus hall, was used on Bingo & Casino night.

Going by the name on the board, I found this PDF. Don't know if it will be of any help.

Can you shoot a picture the entire inside of the machine? That board on the wood looks more like some kind of a video controller.

That board says "Pluto 5 Calypso video board" which I googled and found the info above. Seems to be some sort of evaluation board for casinos. So perhaps it was a prototype machine or something.

What country was this acquired in??? It appears to be a company that will "create" gaming machines for a dedicated venue....which is obviously not US.

Interesting looking game.

While this is in an IGT cabinet (either from an S+ or a PE+ slant top machine), the guts of it are not from IGT.  Someone ripped the IGT stuff out of the cabinet and used it to make this arcade redemption machine.  As such, I'm going to move this thread to the generic "video" category.

My memory is fuzzy, but I remember someone previously posting some S+ uprights that had been converted to skill stop machines which had a similar looking wheel in the top box.  It could be the same company...  I looked, but I can't find the thread with those S+ machines...  Anyone else remember what I'm talking about?
