Handle works fine but doesn't return
« on: July 12, 2018, 08:22:08 PM »
Any ideas: Universal reel slot coins up and handle works great on play but: it doesn't return, it locks down every time and I have to wiggle it a few times and then it will release and return to upright. Any ideas of what could be causing this, do I need to pull the handle mechanism to fix what is wrong?
Thanks for you ideas!

I'm no expert on Universals, but I would think pulling and cleaning would do the trick. Seems to be acting like something's getting stuck and needs cleaned

I found the problem and was able to fix it without removing the handle. It was the ratchet that interacts with that long bar in front, the center ratchet rides on a shaft, the shaft or axle and the ratchet did not move independently, so I had to clean and sand the shaft and slid the ratchet back on, that did it. It was fine when I got it, and then I put it out in the cold garage and the grease got stiff, that is how I find problems in slot machines, by putting them in a cold area for a day or two, but this one stumped me.
Thanks
