IGT Double Bonus Poker Help

Hi!


First time posting here, seems like a pretty cool place! Sorry in advance for any mistakes I may make!


My dad recently purchased two broken gambling machines. One of them is an IGT Double Bonus Poker machine. It has multiple error codes. Call Attendant, Coin-out Timeout, closure restart, and a blinking change button. We think it's a hopper issue. We know the battery is good and all the fuses we know of are good. Monitor says coin-in timeout.  Clean the optics under the coin comparitor. Do not use alcohol.  Q-tip and water.

The picture was taken when the hopper was out of the machine. When it is in the machine, it says Coin-out timeout.

Clean the hopper optics too.  Also check the elevator for stuck coins if it has one.  Not too many bar tops around, I have never seen the inside of one.

We'll try that in a bit. Where are the optics at exactly? Also, the hopper isn't even trying to spin. Thanks!

That's the main problem!  Look for jammed coins or anything else in the hopper.

Look in the area where the coins are ejected from the hopper.

OK. We cleaned both optics. No change. I put a picture of the hopper test screen in the Drive folder. While looking in the comparitor, we found a folded up match box holding what we think is the diverter open. We're not sure what that's all about, but we took it out. According to some research online, we think that the hopper should be getting 115 volts of power. Instead of getting 115 straight volts from one connection, it's getting 58 volts on two connections. Is this correct?

When you do a hopper test does it spin ? If this works don't worry about the voltage.


When the hopper receives power it pulls backs a solenoid releasing the hopper brake and the hopper spins. When power is cut a small spring pulls the hopper brake back in.


The hopper time out could occur if the coin is not being seen by the hopper optic.
The hopper optic is a small U shaped black item that sits on top of the hopper and as coins are lifted and carried out they are seen by the optic.
When a win of xx coins is made the hopper optic counts the coins out then cuts power.


Reasons for a coin-out time out - Empty hopper, using too small a coin (ie dimes vs quarters), dead optics.

When we do a hopper test it does not spin.

Time for a hopper overhaul.

Empty bowl contents.
Undo the grounding wire from top of bowl.
Remove 4 screws inside springs surrounding the bowl.
Place screws and springs aside...they must go on the same way later....two are black and two are silver.
Remove hopper bowl spring from frame-to-bowl and place both aside.

Remove 2 screws/washers from the knife.
Place aside with the knife plate guide for re-install later.
There's also 2 screws for the coin face place under the knife.
Remove and place aside as well.

Remove 3 screws from center of pinwheel.
Remove rubber agitator, coin shelf wheel, and nib wheel.

Now put on cheap rubber gloves.
Clean everything out from under hopper knife and wheels, and where the plates were.
There will be black lint gunk, human hair, and paper.
Place under microscope if you don't believe me...lol

Shove hopper motor frame back into machine as is.
Gently place wires aside so they don't get caught in anything and run the hopper test again.
If the motor hums and the axle turns, assemble everything back together the way it was disassembled starting with the nib wheel, coin shelf wheel and rubber agitator.
All screws should be hand tightened firmly but not crazy tight...no need to torque any screws.
Now is a good time to thoroughly check all wires and connections for any breaks or looseness.

If the axle doesn't turn, your motor or transmission is shot or the brakes aren't releasing.
Check to see if the brakes release by pressing on the magnetic metal brake handle surrounding the motor.
It should release the brake pawl on the red nibs coming out of the back of the motor.
A small spring engages the brake pawl onto the red nibs.
If working correctly, when pressing the brake pawl against the motor, the wheel in the bowl should turn with your other hand on the rubber agitator.
Will advise more details if you get this far.

Bunk: Per the earlier post do you know the expected voltage to the hopper ?
I am not near my machines to check.

120 AC volts to the two bottom pins.
I use a household extension cord with the ground cut off for bench testing.
I turn it on/off with a power strip bar.

The hopper in your video doesn't have the same connector as ours does. I added a picture of it to the Drive folder. What two pins would we have to connect to the plug to test our hopper? Thanks for all your guys' help!

I'm not sure where the "Drive folder" is....lol
Anyhow, just put the hopper in the machine and do the hopper test since we don't know which pins the test extension cord goes on with your hopper.
I thought you had an S+ machine.

The "Attachments and other options" was giving me issues, so I made a folder in Google drive and put the link in the first post. There's a bunch of pictures of the machine in there. When we do a hopper test, there is no indication of the hopper trying to work at all. Thanks for looking out for us! haha
