LOTR TT Won't Clear
« on: February 28, 2019, 01:32:26 AM »
Hello Everyone,

I have an issue here trying to install LOTR Two Towers.  I have tried clearing several times and it just gets stuck at the megatronics screen.  I swapped to another NXT-2 CPU and no luck.  Then finally tried clearing it with a different game card and it cleared just fine.  Using 1810 clear card.  I guess my question is what game file should be used and what OS should be used.

An additional question is what OS does Time Machine use is it actually a 256K card size?

Thanks in advance

John

Time machine uses OS Family H 9.23 (You can use SSG1490 a 256MB Card)

If you are loading LOTR Two towers, I don't understand your question as to what game card should be used? The OS family for it is H13.20 (I like to use 1696 for that).

Thanks Rick!

I think what I am basically trying to say is the machine won’t clear with LOTR TT in the game slot.  It’s just hung up on the picture of the screen. However if I put another game card in, it clears just fine.

Thanks for the info on time Machine.

When you do a clear, the ONLY card in any slot should be the CLEAR card in the OS position!!

Try That...

Interesting.  I will certainly try that this evening. I don’t believe I have ever cleared a machine that way.  I have always had the game card in the machine.

Thanks Steve

Well, I tried clearing it with only the clear card installed.  It cleared perfectly.  However when I put the OS and game card in, it hung up in the same place. Out of curiosity I cleared and only put the OS card in and it loaded fine right up to the game manager.  So I must be missing something or have a bad game file.  I tried this with both LOTR 1 and 2.  Both did the same. This machine has had many games in it and at one point I had two towers running.  So I am not sure the issue. Tried my other NXT-2 and same issue.  Anyone have any ideas?

Weird..........

What size is the game CF?  OEM?  CF's in the correct slots?   Has this ever run for you on your machine??

Hi Steve,

Game card 4GB.  OS is 512k.  OS SSG-000-1663 H13.20

Not OEM.  I purchased the machine with OEM but misplaced it.  It’s around here somewhere but the room has been rearranged and in that process it somehow ended up somewhere. I just don’t know where.

Hi Steve,

I posted it a few posts back.

So question.....initially I was tryng to restore these files on a windows 10 machine.  Took some time to figure out I needed an XO or 7 machine.   Is it possible the cards are curtopted even though it writes to the cards on my windows 7 machine without issues?

I read through some threads that mentioned it makes the cards invalid.

Bummer!

New cards on the way.  I am obviously not the only one that has made this mistake has fallen for Microsoft’s silliness.  In the meantime maybe I can find a card I haven’t ruined.  Sad you can’t recover these cards.

Someone should make a sticky on this subject.  It would save a lot of headaches.

The cards are not bad, but if you saved the image on a windows 10 machine, then your image is no good.  The cards themselves are good, as long as you use a good image to restore them on a windows 7 or earlier PC.

Correct..........
Imaging software erases everything on the CF.   He does need new images, and that will require new cards most likely....

I never put the files on a windows 10 machine.  I have them stored on an external drive.  However I did connect that drive to a windows 10 machine and tried to restore a file from that drive to a CF.  Seems like that might be the same thing as putting the files on a windows 10 machine?

Yes.  If you hook the drive to a non windows 10 computer then you should be OK.

Best.

Ok.  So I am no longer sure if my files are valid.  Does someone have the game and os for LOTR TT?

What cards are you using to image the LOTR game?
