keychip issues again 044 board with 3902 mystical mermaid

so i am having a key chip failure again
have 044 mpu installed with legacy board, mystical mermaid software plays fine


i just want to key to change a few things and finally clear if no recourse


tried the following


key 17 red light no screen
key 22 redscreen no options
key 40 this keychip cannot be used on this machine power cycle
key 37 no options but when base put back in i recieved group code does not match


any ideas

Don't ya need a key28 for 044 boards? Or due to the legacy board [size=78%]will the older chips like a 40 work properly?[/size]

Key40 is for 044 mpu with 3902 adapter board.

exactly but when i use key 40 it says cannot use the key chip and to put the base back in and power cycle

You mean like if there were still credits on machine?  I tried to key one time when I thought I played off all credits but was playing dollar denom and it still had 23 cents on it from a ticket I used.  :banghead:

i am sure there were no credits on machine ( at least i think i am sure) even tried sticking another game in there and had the same result


since i have crap to do on my CMS Host ( CMS is my pc program for doing everthing with slotsie accounting, player tracking etc.) PM if you want more info


I just stuff my super stars poker back in for now so i can play with EFT transactions

More info learned. SO with a legacy board on an 044 you do use the key40 and not the key28. Mental note made!! :)

Are you sure you have a Key 40 and not a 45?  Key 40 should work

According to these documents it was Key 22, but on a 044 w/legacy adapter board should be Key 40.  Unless you have NJ software, then it's Key 26 legacy, and Key 43 on 044 board. 

You can probably key it with Key 40 if you nuke all the settings (Clear RAM and EEPROM) I would think.

I'm not sure that Key 22/40 wouldn't work even if it was NJ software.  I think Key 26/43 is 22/40 minus the clear options, but not having that key I don't know for sure.

Key and clear with a flashboard with 28 and then load up the 3902 legacy board with software.
