What to do with a bad DBV after replacing with new?
« on: July 01, 2023, 09:05:51 AM »
Just curious as i hate throwing away and filling landfill if there is something more that can be done with stuff. When a DBV head goes bad and you replace, is there something that can be done with old one? Is there someone who repairs them and its worth the time/money? I wouldn't mind having an extra around if someone fixes them and still below cost of a replacement.

PS Have this issue with a transport and coin comparator too...
How about throwing me some positive KARMA love by clicking on the left!

Coin comparators are getting hard to find, you should sell it on EBAY or NLG.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Basically there's four things that usually go wrong with un-serviced, neglected bill validator heads...>>>

1). Clouded, scratched used-to-be-clear plastic optic sensors, or burned out.
2). A belt or wheel becomes hard & brittle.
3). The motor dies out.
4). Broken or chewed up gear teeth.

They ARE old and PAST their expected lifetime usage.
If you have any technical skills at all, you can get one back up running like brand new.
Number one, you have to being extremely resourceful in obtaining 30 year old parts, and know how to service it.
These are complicated devices that require a lot of patience, AND time to work on them.
That's why it's NOT cheap to have them re-furbished.

See that garbage can in the corner?
Take careful aim, and see if you can get 2 points...

P.S. As a consolation prize, I gave you a + karma! lol

Is it a DBV 145?

If so, Buzz always said to immediately throw it in the trash.  :Tongue_Out:
