OK. I followed everything exactly as you stated. Everything went exactly as you said. I also used the set chip to install a BV that was in the machine for 25 cents. I then got a 6, pushed the test button, got 6-1, closed the door, the machine booted, turned the reset key. I now have a zero in the credits played window. It is flashing and the BV is not working. So far, so good. I guess I just need help setting it up from here.

AWESOME! Good job!  :applause: :applause: :applause:

I thought you said it had no BV????  :Scratch-Head:  Didn't I read that in one of your posts? Oh well, no biggie.

Anyway, the option you are looking for with the SET chip is 9. Flip the 9-0 to a 9-1, and the BV will be enabled. (Now, that's not to say there isn't an issue with the BV itself, but at least it will be enabled in the program.)

It has no coin hopper nor any bill validater. The openings in the machine for coins, bills and tickets have been covered.

Ok, so I'm not losing it after all! Whew!  :arrowthruhead:

But then again, maybe I am losing it, as I see later where we were talking about your BV! These long threads are a killer...

It does have a BV and I already have set it to 9-1. I am in normal running mode right now but all I can get is a 0 flashing in the credits played window. It does self check and acts like it wants to work...but it doesn't. I think I somehow need to get credits on the machine. The BV is not accepting anything and I have no coin mechanisms at all. This was a tournament machine in the beginning. It has no cash box for the bills either.

You will need the Cash can for it to work. Do you have a WBA bill validator or a DBV 200 or 145? You will need to know before getting a cash can. OK no coin comp., is the bracket and coin optics there? If so you can press the little button on the optic board to put credits on. This will only work while door is open. Do not do this before you set option below because if you hit a win it will want to pay and start more trouble. You will need to set some options before you try to play. I believe it is the same for 1274 as 1271.

•With the machine turned on and in idle mode, open the door press the white test button 2 times
•You should see "2  n" in the winner paid/credits windows, where n= 0 or 1. Press the spin button until it reads "2  1”
               This enables the spin sounds.
•Turn the jackpot key once. This advances through the setup sub-menu
•You should see "5  n" in the window, where n= 0 to 2. Press the spin button until it reads "5  0"
This will make all wins automatically go to the credit meter. You will not have to turn on the credit button before playing.
•Turn the jackpot key three times.
•You should see "8  n" in the window, where n= 0 to 2. Press the spin button until it reads "8  1"
This will force all bills inserted to go to the credit meter. You will never accidentally end up cashing out your bill.
[ADD 5-30-2011] It turns out that this setting has to be enabled when the dbv is set up using the SET chip. If the SET chip option is
configured as disabled, this option can't be changed and all bills will always go to the tray. If the SET chip option is configured as enabled,
then the option is set here. If enabled, a set chip is NOT required to change this setting.
Thanks Poppo and Stayouttadabunker for this info.

•Turn the jackpot key once
•Press the white test button to "return" to the main menu and advance through it until you get to option group 7

          {stop the first time you see a “7” in the Coins-In display}
•Set your hopper and credit limits as follows:
Note: To set these values, turn the jackpot reset key to change the selected (flashing) digit. Press the spin button to increment the
                          flashing digit.
•[7-1] 0000   Maximum number of credits that will actually cash out from your hopper.

Zero effectively disables the hopper, but you can use a low number to match the number of coins that you have, if you wish.
If you have more credits than the value set here on the meter, pressing cash out will become a hand pay that is cleared with
                               the key.
•[7-2] 1200  This will cause all single wins of 1201 or more to lock up as a jackpot with lights flashing. Set this between the highest win that you

want to pay out normally and the lowest win that you want to lock up as a jackpot. Jackpot wins cleared with the jp key
"disappear" and are not added to the credit meter (although they are added to the jackpot meter in the bookkeeping menus.)
•[7-3] 9999  All single wins of equal to or less than the value set in [7-2] (1200 or less in this case) will go to the credit meter as long as the final

number of credits is less than 10,000.
•[7-5] 2000  The bill validator will turn off when you have more than 2000 credits. Use any value that you want here.
•[8]    0000  optional.  Partial pay on lockups. If you want some of your jackpot or lockup amounts to pay from the hopper, set this
to the number of coins you want to pay out. This number cannot be higher than the hopper limit setting [7-1].
•Press the white test button one final time after making your last setting change to be sure that the changes stick
•Close the door
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.

Options are set as you described. There is a bracket and some coin optics in the machine. I found a small white button on the optic board and it let me have 2 credits with the door open. When I hit spin reels it operated normally with the door open. When I close the door it goes back to a flashing 0 on the credits played window. Is the cash can missing the reason I can't use the BV? Can I operate it without any coin mechanisms? All I want is for bills, not coins.

Yes you can operate without coin mech. You will need a cash can for the 145. It is not the same as WBA. That 145 will probably only take old small head style currency. For best results upgrading to a WBA 11-12 is best as you can use the newer large head colorized bills. The flashing zero is normal as the machine is waiting for credits. Great news is your almost there. Bet you had a nice smile pushing the optic button and playing pseudo credits. Now there is a way to play without any of this. Add 2 wires to the pseudo coin button, then run outside of the machine to a push momentary switch. Disconnect one of the door optics so the machine thinks the door is open. Then you can add a credit and play. You can check with Ros or any of the suppliers here on NLG for WBA or just cash can. Or place a want to buy ad.

Got my cash can. fits perfectly. BV still not working. Do I need to use the reset chip to get it going? I can't set the hopper payout to zero either. Keeps coming back to 300.

Did you set the other limits like the list had them? Since no hopper it needs to be zero in case of cash out. When you turn the machine on, does the BV cycle? On the left side is a red handle, it needs to be in the down position. Loosen the screws on front then put lever in down position then tighten screws. Post a picture of it or a short video if possible. My phone only takes mp4 video so it won't post here. I upload to youtube then put link here.
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.

Keeps coming back to 300.

On the CPU board there is a set of 8 dip switches close to the volume control pot. Set 1, 2 and 3 to the on position and 4 - 8 off. That will allow you to change your hopper limit. The current dip switch settings it is set for has it locked at 300 and is why you can't change it.

Yes. I set all limits as stated. The BV does cycle when the machine is turned on. It also has 2 little led lights inside that I can see are lit up. The red lever is down. I set the hopper pay to zero but it reverts back to 300 when I check it after restarting. Video of machine startup is here:
<a href="http://youtu.be/DYLFDlKElzs" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://youtu.be/DYLFDlKElzs</a>
. I can't tell when the dip switch is off or on. I will also attach a pic of the switches and maybe you can help me know if they are on or off.

Those are set in the wrong direction. Just switch them all and they will be correct.

changed the dip switches to opposite and moved the red lever up. Still no BV. I also reset the hopper payout to zero and it came back to 300 even after I changed the dip switches. ?

there is a white button in the back of the cash can compartment. I guess it is supposed to let the machine know the cash can is in place. I looked around the back of the compartment and there are no wires connected to that button. It is a button with no connection at all. Useless the way it is. It was not needed for the tournament play. Maybe that is my problem. ?

Try setting the hopper limit to 1 to see if that sticks.
