1961 SPACE JETBELL PIGGY BACK SLOT

O.K., so I guess I should have shied away from this machine when it came thru my door like it was the plague but I didn't!

It had many issues with the mechanism portion which I was able to correct pretty straight forward and the mech is now operating perfectly but the electronic portion for payouts is a nightmare as I have never seen one of these in 35 years of restoring slot machines.
Voltage is present for the proper function of the coin acceptor, which is like an early Bally and the solanoid pulls appropriately for the handle to activate the mechanism but the payouts are non existant.
It is not similar to early Bally slots or any other slot of that Era and as there are some issues with the electronic portion of this machine I am looking for any literature available, a schematic, a wiring diagram or anything that will give me proper test voltages for this puppy.
In my research I place this machine at a 1961 manufacture date.
If I am right the company originally started out as Pace Manufacturing and was bought out by Ace, then by Space and finally ended up as Allied out of Henderson, Nevada where it died forever, never to be seen again.
Anyway, if there is any literature out there for this puppy, let me know as I have checked all the suppliers of literature on slot machines and this one seems to have been lost forever.

Nice Find !   I stumbled across a group of those  Space/Ace machines  around  1989 /  1990.   A guy had  approx. 20 of them in his back yard under a tarp... ( near  Lake Meade and N. Lamb ).   I do NOT recall a "piggy back"  style in the group.  I just remember the circuitry was, for the most part,  hard wired.  I do recall seeing (somewhere)  a manual for the  machines...or it may have been some promo material for the company.  If I find something in my cabinet of  files... I'll  get back to you.    Correct me if I'm wrong... but the reasoning behind a "piggy-back"  machine was licensing for  1 machine   with  ONE  handle with 2 sets of reels  VS  license for  2 (separate) machines.

Not sure on the Nevada Gaming Commission laws in those days as to licensing but it does make sense that a license would be issued by placement for one complete cabinet/mechanism and of course, two separate mechs allowing for two coins played would increase the take for the casino per license.
Allied Manufacturing, being in Henderson, when the company closed out would possibly explain why you found 20 machines of this type in one location in that area.

I have a friend in Vegas however who had tried to purchase some items from them when they closed and they were not to anxious to sell to him, thought their parts were made of Gold, very high priced so he passed!

If you do run across any literature, please let me know as this particular piggy back machine makes use of old telephone company switches, Etc. and having any literature would be appreciated!

I believe the attached is an electrical schematic for the single set of wheels--i.e. non piggy back slot.  Like you we got our machine operating perfectly mechanically but with no action from the payoff side.

Thanks for the reply and I will file this away in my collection of schematics and diagrams but I must admit I had to give this slot machine back to the customer unrepaired as to the electrical payout portion, after 35 Plus years it is the only slot machine I could not repair and I've had some real winners pass thru my shop.

That was my understanding of it also. Bally got in on the action as well with the side by side.
I have one but for the life of me I can't find a picture on my computer.
